Tried out a Filipina Escort – Manila Courtesans Review

‘Simone’

Escorts aren’t something I normally use because usually they’re expensive, you pay a premium for the convenience of a girl being delivered to your place, and are risking the pictures not matching her appearance.

It’s easy in places like the Philippines and Thailand to find a hot girl yourself in person from a red light district, beer bar, gogo bar, disco etc. even as a foreigner on holiday there for the first time.

Involving any kind of middle man isn’t necessary in big cities, especially random touts on the street who offer to take you to find ‘lady boom boom’ or anything like that. Wanting their commission.

Via Manila Courtesans

Then with escort websites you don’t know what you’re getting until the girl is at your door, will have to pay up front, and usually it’s covered sex (condom). Although if you’re concerned about STDs that’s good.

I did try Smooci in Bangkok because they lowered the rates of escorts to around $60 – $100, comparable to the cost at a gogo bar. Prior to Smooci coming along escort sites in BKK charged $150 – 200 for two hours.

That was good, but Manila doesn’t have Smooci yet. From research on Philippines forums the most recommended Filipina escort agency was always ‘Manila Courtesans‘.

She’s actually 20 now

I recently tried them out to verify their reliability. Everything went fine so I would recommend them if you want the convenience, exclusivity and low STD risk (not many guys will want to pay these prices).

Unlike my Smooci review this time I paid for it myself. Manila Courtesans do pay to put a banner ad on this blog but as far as actually trying them out myself I paid and this is an unbiased review.

No Rejection Fee / Chaperone

Manila Courtesans don’t charge a fee if you reject the girl based on her pictures not matching her, unlike some Manila escort agencies.

Also the girl arrives alone to your door, not with some local guy as a bodyguard.

Model shoot

My friend once used a Manila escort agency, sadly he can’t remember the name, who wanted to charge him 1000 pesos for cancellation and transportation expenses.

They had no written policy on their website and he only got a verbal confirmation on the phone that there wouldn’t be any charge (‘Ok Sirrrrr’).

It got awkward when he wanted to turn her away and refused to pay the 1000, the guy turned violent and abusive motioning inside his jacket as if to pull out a weapon, but luckily hotel security arrived just in time.

Filipina curves

Manila Escort Prices

The cheapest price on Manila Courtesans is 4500 pesos ($90) for two hours with Kimmy, you get at least two shots (sex twice). Then they have a couple girls at 5000.

Long time rates are pretty crazy. Even if they were cheap I never really recommend committing to long time with any kind of prostitutes you’re new to.

Start with short time, see how well you vibe with the girl then extend from there if you want to. Maybe they’ll come back over off the clock and it’ll end up cheaper.

I picked ‘Simone’ (stage name) for 7000 pesos short time, two hours, two shots.

Manila Courtesans Review

So Simone arrived alone, at 7.10pm, to my room at Gramercy Residences in Makati. I’d booked for 7pm mid afternoon so pretty punctual. No ‘Filipino time’ delays.

She was beautiful, not quite as perfect as the photos above which were from a professional model shoot with make up and high resolution camera, perfect lighting etc. but still fine.
Decent GFE (girlfriend experience), i.e. not cold and mercenary. Like most Pinays and Thais she was warm and friendly. Spoke decent English.

The funny part was I realized I’d actually met her before a year earlier when she was working on P Burgos as a massage girl. She’s put on a lot of weight since then but in a good way, went from skinny to full figured with decent boobs and butt.

From the different body type and the make up in the escort photos I didn’t recognise her until she arrived.

We had sex before a few times for 2500 pesos, plus 500 for the massage shop that you normally have to pay with massage freelancers on P Burgos. Now I’m paying 7000 😀 Although it was two shots.

But I was happy to see her as she stopped meeting me back then. She got a boyfriend and told me she’d stop working, and didn’t reply to texts.

I remember thinking why is a girl this hot standing on the street doing massage on P Burgos, I’m glad she finally moved up in the P4P world.

Since I was paying 7000 and we’d met before I asked to do certain extra things we hadn’t done before. She agreed 🙂 Can’t really blog about it publicly. Those things are at the girls’ discretion.

No Filipino Guys?

The live support on Manila Courtesans asked if I was a ‘local or American’ when booking (they call all westerners Americans). They explained they are reluctant to send girls to condos of local guys.

They do accept local guys staying in 4 and 5 star hotels though.

No Airbnb?

They also asked if I was staying at Gramercy on Airbnb (I was) or if I was the unit owner. They do allow it but they ask to see proof of the reservation first over email.

Manila vs Bangkok Escorts

Manila Courtesans don’t list what services the girl does, which is a shame. Bangkok escort sites list everything, e.g. whether they do anal, cum in mouth, cum on face, rimjob, couples, costumes, etc.

The scale and variety of the prostitution scene is way better in Thailand but the Philippines is a close second and they speak English better.

But all girls on Manila Courtesans do DFK (deep French kissing), BBBJ (bareback blowjob) and GFE (companionship, the ‘girlfriend experience’).

Blowjob and full service

Meaning they won’t lie there like a starfish and instantly rush to leave afterwards. Most Filipina prostitutes are pleasant, just the same as normal girls in terms of attitude and how they interact with you.

Are Escorts Worth it?

In the Philippines you can of course find girls for free or next to nothing.

You can do the dating thing and take them to Starbucks next to your condo, Gramercy is connected to Century City mall with coffee shops and a private entrance via the mall. Then back to the room for a ‘movie’.

Some girls on dating sites like FilipinoCupid, Pinalove or AsianDating will want to come directly over to your place for ‘taxi money’ of 500 – 1500 pesos or so and not consider themselves prostitutes.

But there are some arguments for escorts, maybe you’re on a brief holiday, lazy, concerned about STDs etc. Most escorts are pretty hot as well although there are some ugly ones too online.

Keeping in touch

For comparison, a Manila gogo dancer at P Burgos would set you back 2900 for the barfine, 3000 short time on top, one or two lady drinks at 300, your beer at 150… so in total over 6000 plus your time. Or ~4500 at the EDSA gogo bars.

A freelancer at ZZYZX might ask 3000 up for one shot. At Royal disco they ask 2500 short 5000 long. At LA Cafe or on the streets around P Burgos they take much less (1000 – 2000) but might not be that pretty.

So 7000 ($140) is quite a lot for Manila but for two shots, no time spent, the possibility to keep in touch and meet again for less, and great service from a reputable Philippines escort agency, it’s ok.

Not something I’d do often though. You could take a bus to Angeles City and barfine two gogo girls and still have change left over for a budget hotel for that.

Some of their escorts are cheaper though. See prices and pics of all the girls at ManilaCourtesans.com.

Finding the Best Internet Connection in Angeles City

Fast wifi for streaming Youtube

The best internet I’ve found so far in Angeles City hotels is by asking Royal Amsterdam hotel to put a router in my room.

Normally their internet is poor, slow with lots of disconnections like all other Angeles hotels I’ve stayed in – Field’s Hotel, Galaxy Hotel, and Kokomos hotel I’ve tried so far.

ABC hotel I’ve also stayed in and that had decent internet but you’d expect that for the price ($100+). All the others (~$45 range) were frustrating.

Best Hotel Wifi in Angeles

On a recent trip I was staying in Angeles City a bit longer than usual, not just a brief banging holiday where I don’t mind about fast wifi. I needed to get some work done.

I called Royal Amsterdam reception to ask them to reset the router, when I’d lost connection for the second time that day. They offered to put a router in my room, which I didn’t realise was possible.

Router @ Royal Amsterdam

Now I ask for a router every time, they have about 4 of them. With one in your room you suddenly get a ~10Mbps connection. You aren’t sharing your connection with the whole floor of the hotel anymore, and it doesn’t disconnect.

I always get a room on the ground floor. Royal Amsterdam doesn’t have an elevator and the window views aren’t great on the higher floor rooms anyway.

Having a router in your room on a higher floor will probably be the same as the ground floor but I haven’t checked. The speed test below was on the ground floor.

Wifi speed with router

Installing Internet

If living in Angeles long term I’d probably get a condo and have PLDT wifi installed, rather than live at Amsterdam hotel.

They discount the room rate 20% if you stay 10 days or more, it’s the perfect location, no utility bills and you get daily maid service… but still it would be a bit much to pay 45k pesos a month for more than a few months (1890 php cheapest room, multiplied by 30, minus 20% = 45k).

I’d probably move into Kandi Tower condo for the nice gym and pool and install a PLDT line in the room, then just pay the cancellation fee (~$100) if I left before the end of the 2 year contract PLDT requires.

I haven’t tried Airbnb in Angeles yet as I like being on walking street so I can pop my head in and out of the gogo bars in seconds, and step outside my room and bump into a freelancer.

For Manila though the best wifi can be found by using Airbnb instead of hotels, e.g. Gramercy and Knightsbridge are in a ‘PLDT Fibr village’, a zone with fast speeds. Airbnb unit owners there all install their own PLDT.

Those two Makati condos have listings on Airbnb for $30-50 a night, much better value than hotels given the facilities.

I’d assume Airbnb owners in Angeles have private wifi installed too, so either try that or ask Royal Amsterdam to put a router in your room if you want to be right in the thick of the action.

Those would be the two best options for internet in Angeles City.

Mobile Data

In terms of mobile 3G I’ve found Globe is better than Smart for Angeles (and everywhere else). I had a Globe SIM but they cancelled my number after leaving the Philippines for over 2 months.

Then I tried out Smart and noticed it was a lot worse than Globe in both Manila and Angeles, I’d get no service in places where I had 3G before. Smart is very spotty on walking street in Angeles for some reason.

So get a Globe SIM if you can.

List of Angeles City walking street bars

It’s hard to rank Angeles City gogo bars in terms of girls. No one bar has the hottest, Angeles bargirls tend to just work wherever they can, or wherever their girlfriends work, and they move around a lot.

Unlike Manila where a couple P Burgos bars stand out as having quality girls (Kojax & XOXO, same owner).

Walking Street

Sometimes I’ll go into one of the smaller Angeles gogo bars with about 5 girls – e.g. Icarus, No 7 bar – and find a sexy LBFM, then find nothing in a bar with about 50 girls – e.g. Club Atlantis, Dollhouse.

Each Angeles gogo has a mix of old, young, fat, thin, some that like Asian guys, some that like white guys, some panget (ugly), some maganda (beautiful) if you’re lucky.

Trikes

The average quality is low in Angeles City compared to Bangkok or Pattaya but since there are 1000+ bargirls you can usually find something. It beats Thailand on price and English speaking ability.

Best bet is to quickly pop your head in each bar as you go up and down Fields Avenue as the bars are all so close together. There’s no cover charge in gogos and they don’t mind you doing a quick in out.

Club XS dancers

The walking street gogos have a bit higher quality girls on average (and higher barfines). Walking street is the Eastern half of Fields Avenue, the part vehicles can’t drive down at night.

Barfines on walking street are 2400 – 3000 pesos ($50 – $60) which unlike Thailand includes the cost of sex, it’s all paid upfront. Single lady drinks are 150 – 170 pesos ($3) and doubles 250 – 300 pesos.

Beer is a double lady drink

I’ll do a separate post about the other gogos off walking street and the Perimeter bars, which charge less.

There are lots of freelancers and ‘massage girls’ around too who’ll take 1000 ($20) short time and can be cuter than some bargirls. Keep an eye out as you browse the 30 or so gogo bars on walking street.

Walking Street from Royal Amsterdam hotel

Best Walking Street Gogos for Foreign Guys

Filipinos call all non Asians ‘foreigners’, (‘Kano’ in Tagalog), ‘black American’ etc.

You can go into any gogo bar no matter where you’re from. There’s only one place I know of that only lets Asian guys in, but that isn’t a gogo nor is it on walking street (Geisha Japanese Karaoke on MacArthur).

But I notice in some walking street gogos the girls are enthusiastic when I walk in, and in other gogos they aren’t quite as much. Those ones tend to have Korean managers and more Asian customers.

Hard to rank them in any particular order, but try these gogos first if you’re non Asian.

#1 Shipwrecked

Shipwrecked gogo

I like Shipwrecked bar as it has a pool table and a gay Filipino papasan (floor manager guy) that keeps the atmosphere lively and can help you out in choosing a girl.

Similar to Billboard, the best Bangkok gogo, which also has a gay papasan.

I barfined two girls at Shipwrecked, both were great and I find it a fun bar to chill in thanks to the billiards and good atmosphere. Even the mamasans were nicer than normal.

Pool table

In some gogos the girls look a bit bored and low energy but I haven’t seen that here yet. One girl I barfined was keen to head to HISO disco after sex to continue partying until 6am, then slept over.

On a Monday night girls might be a bit more tired / moody but all the Angeles City walking street bars can be like that early in the week.

I’ve never come across a ‘cherry girl’ in Shipwrecked – ones that don’t have sex, you can only take them out to barhop or at most a blowjob. Like a ‘coyote’ in BKK.

  • Barfine – 2400 (less hot ones) or 3000 (the better ones), two prices
  • Opening hours – 6pm – 3am
  • Location – Middle of walking street, North side. Google Maps (previously ‘The One Eyed Wench’)

#2 Monsoon

Monsoon gogo

Formerly ‘Typhoon’. Next to Shipwrecked and a similar fun atmosphere, Monsoon bargirls are mostly smiling and trying hard to get your attention on stage, wiggling their butts etc. Didn’t see any looking moody.

Haven’t met any cherry girls here, or been rejected for not being Korean yet. There’s no Korean papasan. Long happy hour 1pm – 6pm.

Although Monsoon is fairly small and no pool table, I like it for the barfine being less than 3000 unlike most other walking street gogos, and it stays open longer hours (only beaten by Voodoo which is 24 hours).

Edit: The barfine used to be 2500 and has now increased to 2750, a waitress also said in 2018 it’ll be 3000. Shame.

Bargirl ID Card showing DOB

I also barfined one of my favorite girls in Angeles here. Like one of the Shipwrecked she slept over and it became long time for the same price, usually most gogo girls will leave after one shot.

  • Barfine – 2750
  • Opening hours – 1pm – 3am
  • Location – Right of shipwrecked, middle of walking street

#3 Lollipop

Lollipop gogo

Again some of the most enthusiastic girls, dirty dancing, flirting, talking dirty, lap dances, etc. No shy ones, cherry girls, or ones that only go with Asians that I know of.

A lollipop girl was cool with me taking pics of her, in other gogos that gets a bad reaction even for a drink.

The clothing they wear at Lollipop is some of the most revealing. No Philippines gogo bars have full nudity unlike Thailand (Crazy House in Bangkok, Windmill in Pattaya), at best they’re in bikini style outfits.

But in some Angeles City gogos they’re in uniforms or fully clothed where you can’t really see anything, and can’t tell if they have stretch marks from a baby which is quite common in the Philippines.

Every now and again you’ll find a hooker with a hot body, no baby, 18 – 22 age range, so hot they could easily get a boyfriend or husband to take care of them but they just enjoy the job and lifestyle.

Love it when that happens, totally flies in the face of the western narrative that third world prostitutes are slaves, forced into it, hate it, etc.

Anyway in Lollipop and Shipwrecked the clothing is quite sexy and shows a lot of their body, and if there’s anywhere girls might cheekily flash their body or let you cop a feel it’s those gogos.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 2pm – 3am
  • Location – West end of walking street opposite Fields Hotel. Google Maps

#4 Icarus II

Icarus II gogo

Update – this bar has changed name to ‘Cosplay’.

The girls in Icarus II are quite young and pretty at first I thought they might be less receptive to a foreigner, it’s towards the East end by the Korean style gogos (Club Ra, Color, Para, Leopard) and Korean restaurants.

But those two girls were great and I’ve barfined twice from here. They are the rare girls that like both white guys and Asians, and are ‘Asian style’. You get some of those in Angeles too but not many.

I.e. skinny, no boobs or butt, cute face, 18-20 age range, will be barfined by a Korean guy if you don’t get in there early but will be happy to go with you too.

Icarus II is quite small with only about 6 – 8 girls but the barfine is cheaper, it’s open earlier in the morning if and they’re surprisingly cute.

But girls move around a lot so if you’re reading this in the future (it’s July 2017 now) I wouldn’t be surprised if those girls aren’t there anymore. I’m hesitant to recommend it that highly yet.

Some Korean guys like to ‘sponsor’ a bargirl, take her out of the bar and make them their live-in girlfriend, stop her working, control her movements etc. It’s a bit annoying. About 2-3 months later it just ends in disaster, they break up and the girl is back in the bar again.

Icarus 2 is so named because there’s another Icarus in Angeles City, on Teodoro Street.

  • Barfine – 2500
  • Opening hours – 12 noon – 8pm
  • Location – Opposite Royal Amsterdam hotel

#5 Shooters

Shooters gogo

Once again in Shooters they’re all quite DTF, flirty and into foreigners, it doesn’t have many girls (10 or so) so I rank it lower but they’re all having fun and the barfine is cheaper like Monsoon. Worth a look.

They do have some cherry girls but I managed to barfine a new 18 year old one for sex after going twice, one lady drink each time. The mamasan told her I looked like a nice guy so why not go to get some experience.

Some cherry girls never go out for sex, some do rarely but then keep that title, some are cherry girls only for white guys, some say they have ‘have menstruation’ as an excuse if they’re scared to go with you.

Some bargirls even claim to be virgins yet they’re working in a bar…

  • Barfine – 2500
  • Opening hours – 3pm – 1am
  • Location – Middle of walking street same side as Atlantis

#6 Viking

Viking gogo

In Viking the girls stand in a Viking longship. It’s a bit Asian style how they don’t really dance dirty they just stand there in the boat waiting to be picked, or do a slight dance then rotate to the other side. This one has a Korean manager too.

But it’s still worth a look because it has quite a few girls, about half of which will be fine with foreigners.

I barfined another one of my favorite Angeles girls from Viking, she’d stay over long time and bang three times for the price of short time, or meet up outside work hours for 2k.

She was sponsored by a Korean guy for a few months but luckily that ended by the time of my next trip.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 2pm – 4am
  • Location – Middle of walking street, next to Royal Amsterdam hotel

#7 Hollywood

Hollywood gogo

Edit: Hollywood sadly closed down now, replaced by a random Chicken restaurant… weird.

Hollywood is a small gogo with only about 10 girls and they’re fully clothed just standing there.

I like it though for the cheap barfine and there’s usually no one else in there. Something about the way they’re in their regular clothes can be sexy sometimes and I had a really good experience with a girl I barfined from here.

It’s also quiet, no loud music and being so small and cosy you can chat to the girls on stage without buying them a drink, they’re only like a meter away from you.

Definitely worth a look. Closes at midnight so you can try getting a girls’ number then meeting up after work, if the girl you tried that with at Icarus II flakes.

  • Barfine – 2500
  • Opening hours – 3pm – midnight
  • Location – Last gogo on the East end, McDonald’s side of walking street

#8 Voodoo

Voodoo gogo

I’ve never seen any hot girl in Voodoo and so I haven’t barfined there, but it has a great party atmosphere, and I’m writing this list more with white mongers in mind.

Ugly chicks are very enthusiastic and are up for anything. If you like fatties or older looking girls and want near-zero chance of getting rejected you’ll like Voodoo and the others above Voodoo on this list.

I’ve taken pics in Voodoo like in Lollipop in exchange for a drink and asking first. Would normally get a negative reaction elsewhere and in Thailand.

Has a long happy hour 2pm – 8pm and it then stays open all hours. So it’s the only place still open when HISO disco closes (about 5.30-6am) and the sun is coming up, many go to Voodoo to keep drinking.

Because of that and it having some of the cheapest drinks you might find some disco girls there, or be able to invite some there off the street. If you’re picky though that’s probably the only time it’s worth going.

It would be better if the barfine was 2200 that’d make more sense with the quality of the girls, then it could call itself the cheapest gogo on walking street. Currently the cheapest are 2400 – 2600 barfine (Monsoon, Rhapsody, La Bamba, some of Shipwrecked, Hollywood, Icarus, Shooters, Club XS, Para bar, Color).

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 24 hours
  • Location – Middle of walking street next to Kokomos hotel. Google maps

#9 Atlantis

Atlantis gogo

If we’re going on size and the most girls, the best gogo bar in Angeles would be Club Atlantis, with around 60 – 70 dancers and two floors of seating. It’s the biggest on walking street.

It would also be the best in terms of entertainment, they have some gymnast level pole dancers and choreographed costume shows. But some girls only dance and don’t ‘go out’ (you can’t barfine them).

Atlantis is a bit more Asian focused. You’ll see Koreans making it rain with scrunched up 20 peso notes from the 2nd floor. But I’d still put it on this list because there are so many girls. Tons of western guys still go.

The setup is like a fishbowl Asia style when no dance shows are going on, girls on the 2nd floor sit quietly and wait to be picked with laser pointers.

Many Atlantis girls will still go with foreigners but the two most pretty, young, slim ones I tried to barfine wouldn’t go out. To find out, ask the mamasan.

I like Atlantis when the shows are going on, quite cool to watch. I don’t like it if I’m on the hunt to barfine. Even though it has the most girls many look bored. Probably because they sit alone for long periods of time.

The only two ones I liked didn’t let me barfine them, one only went with Asian guys and one never went out. She was just a hot dancer.

I’ll probably find one to barfine there soon. Once girls sit and drink with you they usually get more lively.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 9pm – 4am
  • Location – First bar on on the right, West end of walking street

#10 Dollhouse

Dollhouse gogo

Similar to Atlantis, Dollhouse has a lot of girls, 40 – 50, the second largest Angeles gogo. Two doors down from Atlantis. Officially it has 70 dancers and Atlantis 100 but not all are there on one night.

I haven’t barfined a girl here yet either, and some girls look bored. In bigger gogos they have a lot of competition, won’t all know each other and gel as a team.

It’s more like a meat market than a bunch of girlfriends partying like in Shipwrecked, Lollipop, etc.

But again there are so many to choose from and once they sit with you they warm up. Some decent dance shows to sit and watch too, like Atlantis. Many guys would consider these two the best Angeles gogo bars.

I’d put them in the top 10 Angeles gogos whether you’re Asian or not, for the cabaret shows and number of girls. Plenty to choose from no matter where you’re from, I just haven’t seen many I like yet.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 7pm – 4am
  • Location – Atlantis side of walking street, two doors down Google Maps

#11 Centauro

Centauro gogo

Formerly ‘Carousel’. Had a German manager 2 years ago then changed owner and name, also a German guy, who shares the work with a Filipino – American papasan.

The girls rotate on a moving carousel, only Angeles City gogo bar I’ve seen with one of those, and most seem pretty happy and upbeat. About 20 – 30 girls.

Open til 6 but the girls go home at 4. Some go to HISO, one girl said to meet me there then came to my hotel, so I avoided the barfine. I did spend a lot on drinks and ping pong balls though.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 6pm – 6am
  • Location – second walking street gogo on West end after Club Atlantis

#12 No 7 Bar

No 7 gogo

At the East end of walking street there’s are some clothes market stalls and kebab stands. Behind that there’s No. 7 bar in the corner.

Girls are fully clothed and only 5 – 10 of them but I did find one cutie, ok experience. If there were slightly more girls and a 2500 barfine it’d be better.

Some look a bit bored but about half are enthusiastic, worth a look while buying a kebab or there’s some Thai food and sushi stalls too. You’ll see ‘Um Bar’ too but there’s no barfine there, it’s just for karaoke.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 6pm – 3am, earlier if no customers
  • Location – Viking side of walking street, far East end

Korean restaurants

Best Walking Street Gogos for Asian Guys

On average you’ll get a better reception in these being Asian and a worse one being white, if you picked a girl at random. Still worth taking a look though wherever you’re from.

I like ‘Asian style’ girls as well so I go to these gogos too. One time a girl asked to check how big my dick was in the CR (toilet), before agreeing to let me barfine her.

Asian guys will also be well received at Atlantis, Dollhouse, Icarus II, Viking, No 7, really all the gogos. It’s rarer to find a Filipina bargirl who goes with foreigners but not Asians, than it is to find the opposite.

They might not like Asians but they consider them easier customers so rarely turn them down. I asked some bargirls about that here and here.

#13 Apple

Apple gogo

Apple bar has a Korean manager who has managed to bring in some hot girls. I’ve barfined two girls here who didn’t mind both Asian and white guys so I’ll rank this #1.

Overall less dirty dancing though, less looks, less flirting etc. just standing there looking pretty.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 1pm – 2am
  • Location – Middle of walking street, North side

#14 Club XS

Club XS gogo

Club XS has a Korean manager for the day shift, he was keen to tell me ‘we’re not just a Korean bar’, which is true, many of the girls will go with foreigners, sadly those ones aren’t that hot.

One of the ‘models’ with a higher barfine wouldn’t even sit with me for a drink, she stayed on stage when the mamasan tried to call her. The mama explained she must only likes Korean / Japanese guys.

I managed to talk to her and she agreed to go with me for only oral, no sex. I was happy to pay 3.6k for that, she was so hot. Then she changed her mind in my hotel saying only handjob, and clothes would stay on.

Luckily the bar reimbursed me. I still like Club XS for the dance shows and the billiards upstairs.

  • Barfine – 3000 or 3600 for ‘models’
  • Opening hours – 3pm – 3am
  • Location – Middle of walking street same side as Royal Amsterdam hotel

#15 Club Asia

Club Asia gogo

I would love to be Asian for a day just to bang some of the girls here. There are about 3 – 4 cute ones that have all refused me saying they ‘dont go out with white guy’.

One in particular that is really stunning. Some girls here look underage it’s a bit weird, but they have ID cards around their neck.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 7pm – 4am
  • Location – Near High Society disco, same side

#16 Dragon Bar

Dragon gogo

Up a set of stairs on the right of Club Asia, Dragon bar has dance / model shows, similar to Club XS.

Mostly asian customers, one or two pretty hot dancers.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 6pm – 3am
  • Location – East end of walking street, HISO side

#17 Club Ra

Club Ra gogo

Go up to the top floor above the Korean family KTV to find Club Ra. Has some dance shows and hot police uniforms.

A cute blonde bargirl here said she had ‘menstruation’ so couldn’t go with me, then 30 mins later I saw her changed into her clothes walking out with a Korean. I went back when her period would’ve been over, then she said ‘only barhop’ 🙂

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 6pm – 3am
  • Location – Middle of walking street next to HISO disco, upstairs to top floor

#18 Arcadia

Arcadia gogo

Has a lot of girls and many will go with foreigners. I’ve barfined one girl here and it was pretty decent. My friend had a bad experience though, starfish, awkward, in a lot of pain, etc.

She was a ‘Korean style’ girl. And looked unhappy in the bar as many do at Arcadia. They don’t really dance or do anything just walk in a circle.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 8pm – 5am
  • Location – Middle of walking street, same side as HISO disco

#19 Club Equus

Club Equus gogo

Connected to Arcadia, you can walk from one to the other via an inside door and see the girls on either side. Have to pay for any drinks you have before moving though.

Similar to Arcadia, quite a few girls but just standing there walking in a circle. Slightly more lively and DTF than the Arcadia girls.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 8pm – 5am
  • Location – Middle of walking street next to Arcadia

#20 Leopard

Leopard gogo

Got a pretty bad reception walking in here they all looked pretty unhappy to see me, some young cuties though. Oh to be Korean for a day!

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 12 noon – 8pm
  • Location – Towards McDonald’s end of walking street, South side

#21 Color

Color gogo

Similar to Leopard, pretty standoffish. Under 10 girls. Has a Korean manager who bowed and said hi.

It has a cheap barfine but require you to buy a lady drink first on top of that.

  • Barfine – 2300
  • Location – Towards the McDonald’s East end of walking street on the opposite side

#22 Para Bar

Para gogo

Next to Color, same layout and under 10 girls as well.

Same barfine as Para bar, same disinterested looking girls.

  • Barfine – 2300
  • Location – Towards the McDonald’s East end of walking street on the opposite side

Other Walking Street Gogo Bars

I don’t see many hot girls in these bars but you might as well pop your head in if you have time.

Let me know if you find any hotties in these, you never know the best girls can turn up in unusual places.

#23 Red Bar

Red gogo

Only 4 – 5 girls on stage, once barfined an ok girl off walking street who said she worked at Red bar but it was under renovations at the time.

Edit: Now Red bar has got better, barfined a great one here in November 2017 and a friend also had a great experience.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 5pm – 2am
  • First bar on the West end of walking street opposite Atlantis

#24 Bad Boy

Bad Boy gogo

Open really short hours and seemed a bit miserable, think this one has a Korean manager too.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 6pm – midnight
  • Location – middle of walking street next to Apple bar

#25 Bamboo

Bamboo gogo

Very enthusiastic girls that like foreigners and maybe the coolest design but I haven’t seen any good lookers at Bamboo. Like Voodoo with less girls and open shorter hours.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 6pm – 3am
  • Location – middle of walking street near Arcadia, same side

#26 BarNana

BarNana gogo

Haven’t seen any maganda ones at BarNana.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 5pm – 2am
  • Location – middle of walking street near Viking

#27 Champagne

Champagne gogo

Champagne needs to hire some sexy bargirls.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 6pm – 4am
  • Location – middle of walking street next to BarNana

#28 La Bamba

La Bamba gogo

A small gogo, haven’t seen anything decent yet at La Bamba.

  • Barfine – 2400
  • Location – West end of walking street after Dollhouse, same side

#29 Lancelot

Lancelot gogo

Formerly ‘King’s Landing’. Never seem to see any hot girls here at Lancelot.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 6pm – 3am
  • Location – Middle of walking street near Shipwrecked

#30 Owl’s Nest

Owl’s nest gogo

Owl’s Nest has a pool table like Shipwrecked but very few girls (only 2 or 3 on stage sometimes) and all on the older / fatter side.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 6pm – 3am
  • Location – West end of walking street before Shipwrecked

#31 Q Bar

Q bar gogo

Haven’t seen any foxy ladies or angels at Q Bar.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Location – West end of walking street opposite Dollhouse

#32 Rhapsody

Rhapsody gogo

Only 4-5 girls, nothing ever caught my eye at Rhapsody.

  • Barfine – 2400
  • Opening hours – 6pm – 2.30am
  • Location – corner of walking street and A Santos

#33 Salambo

Salambo club gogo

Quite a few girls, worth a look, haven’t seen anything I wanted to barfine yet.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 5pm – 4am
  • Location – towards West end of walking street same side as Shipwrecked

#34 Valhalla

Valhalla gogo

One of the smallest walking street gogos, Valhalla only has 3 – 4 dancers.

  • Barfine – 2800
  • Opening hours – 4pm – 2am
  • Location – West end of walking street same side as Dollhouse

#35 Gecko’s

Gecko’s gogo

Gecko’s is also quite small.

  • Opening hours – 2pm – 2am
  • Location – West end of walking street Atlantis side, next to La Bamba

#36 – Sapphire

Sapphire gogo

Tucked away behind some clothes stall and a laundry place down an alley, Sapphire is as small as you’d expect, not many girls and no hot ones that I’ve seen yet.

  • Opening hours – 3pm – 1am
  • Location – End of the alleyway near Royal Amsterdam hotel on the right

#37 – Las Vegas

Las Vegas gogo

By the West entrance to walking street, on ladyboy corner where Phillie’s restaurant is, if you take the road heading right there’s a few more gogos. Not technically walking street but that route links back to it by where Kokomos Hotel is. Haven’t seen any sexy Filipinas at Las Vegas.

  • Barfine – 3000
  • Opening hours – 7pm – 3am
  • Location – Raymond Street

#38 – The Body Shop

The Body Shop gogo

On the turning if you hang a left after Las Vegas to link back to walking street. Haven’t seen any hot bodies worth paying for here.

  • Location – Real Street

#39 – Agasya

Agasya gogo

Next to The Body Shop, I thought Agasya was closed down at first, it looked dead.

Whenever I looked in there was only one girl dancing on a large stage, Manila KTV style, and 2-3 others sitting around looking moody.

  • Opening hours – 7pm – 3am
  • Location – Real Street

#40 – Tropix

Tropix gogo

After Agasya. I didn’t see any hot bargirls at Tropix.

  • Opening hours – 5pm – 2am
  • Location – Real Street

#41 – Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace gogo

After Tropix. Has a lot of girls on two levels, like a mini Atlantis, but I didn’t see any I liked. I took a quick video (bottom of this page).

  • Opening hours – 6.30pm – 4am
  • Location – Almost opposite Tequila Reef restaurant

#42 – Club Eden

Club Eden KTV

In between two gogos and a Filipino guy outside said yes they have a barfine here, so I went in, then was told oh there’s no barfine. Not sure what the deal is.

May have been because I’m not Asian, or they didn’t want to admit it, or it may just be a family karaoke / restaurant type place. 2-3 girls milling around.

  • Barfine – n/a
  • Location – Between The Body Shop & Crystal Palace

#43 – Um Bar

Um… Bar & Karaoke

Not a gogo, no pole dancers or barfine. But a few decent looking hostesses that drink with you, and it’s still Angeles City walking street so the girls might be open to P4P. Being Asian would help at Um bar.

  • Barfine – n/a
  • Opening hours – 7pm – 3am
  • Location – East side of walking street by the kebabs and No 7 Bar

In total I count 41 Angeles City walking street gogos, a few karaokes (some on the road North of walking street too, Mitchell Avenue), Bretto’s sports bar, HISO disco, then a bunch of coffee shops and restaurants.

A couple small bars ‘Perfect Life cocktail bar’ and ‘Black Pearl cocktail bar’ with 1 – 2 old girls and a 1.8k barfine, on A Santos past Swiss Chalet hotel, opposite Rob’s Gastropub and Wild Aces Poker club.

Then more gogo bars on the rest of Fields Avenue West of walking street – Angelwitch, Soya (2200 barfine), After Dark, Camelot etc. – and the Perimeter West of ABC Hotel.

Edit: There’s also Aura Bar on walking street, tucked away down a small alleyway where the entrance to Aura hotel is, on the left. I missed that one until recently. Now Hollywood has closed, and counting Aura, still 41 gogo bars.

Clark sign in the park North of walking street

Best Times of Day

All Angeles City walking street gogos are open every day of the week but opening times vary, some open at noon, others 6pm. Some close at 7pm – midnight, others 3 – 5am.

Girls work different shifts. Hotter ones work at night starting from about 6 – 9pm. Happy hours are often around 6pm – 8pm too so that’s a good time to go.

Leave it too late and they might have been barfined already. Korean guys often go out early and barfine fast. After midnight it can be better to just head to HISO disco on walking street rather than do the gogo bars.

Early in the day you could get a girl from the bars that open earliest – Icarus II, Leopard, Color, Para. Then in the afternoon Monsoon, Shooters, Viking start opening.

Then the bigger gogos like Atlantis, Dollhouse, Centauro open in the evening. The latest closing ones are those along with Voodoo (open 24/7).

Friday and Saturday nights are the most lively, early in the week girls can be a bit tired and hungover, or might take leave to go to their hometown – nearby Subic, Olangapo, Dagupan, etc.

If they are working weekdays though, less customers in the bar / disco can work out well for you.

Kandi Realty rainy promo

Best Time of Year

During low season some girls might take time off but during peak season (Xmas time) boyfriends and sponsors might come over and take girls out of the bars.

During rainy season there are guys selling umbrellas everywhere and the rain doesn’t really affect things.

Overall I don’t think it really matters what time of year you go. Angeles hotels and condos lower their rates a bit in low season but the cost of living in Angeles is cheap already.

You can find better value for money than hotels by looking on Airbnb for a short stay apartment. Philippines hotels are usually overpriced for what you get compared to elsewhere in Southeast Asia.

You can set up dates with sexy Pinays ahead of time by using online dating sites like FilipinoCupid, Pinalove and AsianDating, filter for ‘Pampanga’ which is where Angeles City is. Then save money on barfines.

Tell me your Angeles City stories in the comments below or let me know if you spot any errors on this page. Bar names and barfine prices can change frequently.

A Serious Relationship With a Good Filipina Girl?

$

This is a guest post from a US expat I met in the Philippines. He comments on this blog as ‘RealGuy’. He’s been living in the Philippines since 2012, and met his long term Filipina girlfriend on an online dating site.

My Long term Relationship with a Filipina Girl

Everyone knows the Philippines is only filled with dumb sluts and it’s impossible to find a nice girl there, right? If you read online forums, it’s easy to get that impression, but I don’t think its accurate.

It may be harder to find them, but there’s some nice girls out there. But even if you do find them, they might not be what you’re looking for. I’ll get to that later.

Why would you want to be stuck in a relationship with a Pinay?

I know you’re probably asking that. Well, long story short, I’ve found I’m generally happier in a relationship. I like sex, but once I’m sated, I tend to find more enjoyment in pursuing my interests, and I prefer to not have to worry about hunting for new pussy or dating.

I liked the feeling of having a new girl when I wanted, but most of them got annoying after sex and after a while the novelty tapered off.

I’m not gonna lie and say everything is perfect, but I can’t think of how things would be much better in my current relationship. I’ve been with the same girl for over a year, and she takes care of all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, and we have a lot of fun together.

Temptation for other girls never goes away but overall I can’t think of a time in my life I’ve been this happy.

What makes Filipina Girls unique

I’ve traveled most of Asia, but didn’t date many women outside the Philippines. I was always drawn to the intensity of Filipinas’ emotions. They can be the most loving / happy people, but also the most needy / clingy.

Even though this can be a bad combination to make long term plans over, I wouldn’t write them all off, and for many guys it might be the best thing out there.

I might be different from most guys, so I’m not advocating this life for everyone, but I told Jspill I’d write this in case other guys are interested in pursuing a similar path – a long term relationship with a Filipina.

I would say, it’s probably not a good idea to date anyone seriously here unless you’ve been to the Philippines at least a few times and read all the horror stories. Because everything is based on image, you can easily be thrown off by a girl who does everything right on paper.

I’ve gone through a bunch of phases of elation and disillusionment before I feel I could put together a full picture of the dating scene. I don’t think it needs to be that involved, but at least know what you’re getting in to and avoid seeing everything through rosy eyed glasses if you don’t want to be disappointed.

But all warnings aside, I don’t regret anything about my time living in the Philippines.

Types of Girls in the Philippines

I used to bang randoms in the Philippines, but also had a handful of LTRs. I dated all kinds of women ranging from slum princesses to spoiled models, and some of them could be considered “nice girls”. They can come from different backgrounds, but I noticed a few patterns that apply for most of the good ones.

Nice girls seem to fall into two main camps. On one hand you’ll have the poor, feminine, ultra-selfless hardworking girl. On the other hand, you may also come across responsible upper-class women that might make decent partners. There are issues with both.

The poor girls often bring the baggage of lazy families looking to exploit them, and the rich girls often see feminine tasks like cooking and cleaning below them. So, you might not even want either of them in the long run. But anyway, let’s assume you’re still interested.

Finding a Good Girl

I consider good girls to be those who live a responsible life, are selfless and considerate of others.

Usually it becomes apparent quickly if you’re dealing with someone who is shy to accept big favors and happy to give their kindness freely, or someone entitled and expecting constant maintenance.

While it’s impossible to come up with a measure that applies universally, I think it’s usually easy to tell how someone leans once you’ve spent enough time with them. Many women love to put up an image of these qualities, but few can keep a facade going for a while without showing cracks.

Aside from kindness, another key aspect is self-control. A woman with a long history of choosing bad partners and failed relationships shows bad judgment. Probably the biggest pitfall of dating Filipinas is their lack of foresight and impulsivity.

I’ve dated lots of Filipinas who seemed perfect on paper, only to have their full stories unravel the longer we dated. I would recommend not getting too serious with anyone, and not committing to anything until you’ve been dating them for a couple weeks.

Responsibility is very important in the long term if you want to be with someone you can trust. While at times it can seem like all Filipinas are lazy flakes, there’s actually a good portion of women out there who are responsible and mature.

Often they’re not the hottest ones out there, but you’ll come across some if you meet a range of Pinays.

Meet Different Types of Filipina Girls

When I met my current girlfriend, I didn’t put any filter on who I was meeting. I was matching girls on tinder, messaging girls on dateinasia and filipinocupid, and setting up dates for any opening I had.

I would invite the hiso girls to a nice dinner to test the waters, bang the call center girls after inviting them up to watch a movie, and everything in between. I probably missed some bangs in the process, but it was fun, and it was nice to break up the monotony.

I enjoyed all the time I spent with people, and it gave me a chance to see the differences between different interactions with people, and whether or not I would enjoy them beyond a purely sexual level.

It took me a few dates before my girlfriend ended up in my bed, but by that time I was already bored with the other women out there, and the levels of selflessness she showed was well appreciated in full context.

I wasn’t even looking for a relationship anytime soon, and I wasn’t quick to jump into it, but it became clear pretty quickly which scenario made me happiest.

Finding a Virgin in the Philippines?

The Philippines is a very Catholic country, and sometimes you’ll come across legitimate virgins who are saving themselves for marriage. While this is a rarity in the west, many Filipinos expect it.

While I admire women who can do this, I think this is risky territory for most men. I have dated virgins, but the issue with sex before marriage put way too much unnecessary pressure on the relationship.

If you’re a guy with a conscience, it makes you pressured to try and make it work if you popped her cherry but don’t want to stick with it. To add more complication, many women lie about their virginity to trap guys into commitment.

Of course, it’s up to you, but I’d try to avoid most virgins if you’re hung up over it unless the girl isn’t making a huge deal about it. I prefer women who’ve had a handful of committed relationships over a long time span than a complete virgin, but that’s me.

Where to meet Good Girls

Finally, where to meet them. Well, the issue with good girls is they’re often busy. Many of them are working all week long, and spending the weekend doing chores or going to church. If you’re a normal Westerner, you don’t come into their picture most times.

But many of them are frustrated with the local dating scene – Filipinos have a reputation for leaving their girlfriends after getting them pregnant, or are seen as lazy. I don’t know if all of those stereotypes are fair, and I’ve seen examples to the contrary, but that is what many Filipinas are thinking.

Whether it’s a rationalization or moral justification for them to date men from wealthier backgrounds, I don’t know, but it’s a motivation that pushes some of them on to dating sites.

You may be able to find them during the day, but I’ve found online dating to be easier. Even the sketchy ones have girls who join, stay a few weeks, then leave. A lot of them have friends or relatives who met their future husbands through these platforms, so the women try their luck at it also.

But they don’t stay long. Usually they join, their profile get flooded by sex cam requests, they realize it’s mostly guys trying to bang them and they quit.

So go after the ones who are flagged as new members, exchange Viber contacts, and chat with them. If they quit the site and are still talking with you on the regular, chances are you’re one of their main priorities.

Have fun

Even though this post is geared towards finding good girls in the Philippines, don’t ever a woman pressure you in to it. Filipinas can be sweet, but they can also be quite demanding and emotionally volatile, always poking for weaknesses in your sense of pity or duty.

If you prioritize your happiness, I don’t think you can go wrong. Do what makes you happy, and if you come across a girl who enhances your life, see where it goes.

But only do it if it’s what you want. I’ve been pretty happy with my life since I met my girlfriend, and I know it might not be for everyone, but it might be the kind of lifestyle that works for you.

Either way, just figured I’d throw out something to think about. Have fun, and see you out there.

Buying Smart Drugs in Asia & How I Improve Focus

$

Buying preworkout @ Macau Nutrition

I tried Modafinil and Armodafinil and didn’t feel too great on them, for the moment what I do to increase focus is take preworkout stimulant drinks and Yohimbine, for reasons I’ll go into in this article.

Ordering Nootropics in Thailand

Afinilexpress.com ship Modafinil & Armodafinil to everywhere in Asia except the Philippines, China, Indonesia and Taiwan. A friend in Manila who raves about it for productivity asked me to order some for him.

They shipped 100 pills to me in Thailand, took a week to arrive with no customs issues. I took it over to the Philippines in my luggage, along with ED drugs (a box of 50 generic Viagra), no problems doing that either.

They give a 10% discount for ordering with Bitcoin. Get $10 free in Bitcoin on Coinbase.

Modafinil Review

At the same time as ordering it my friend convinced me to try it myself. Started with Modafinil – I certainly felt wired the first few days, like having many strong coffees.

I got dry mouth which is a known side effect, you have to ensure you stay hydrated. I was awake for longer than normal and didn’t feel great the next day. You also have to ensure you sleep enough to recover.

After a few days it had a bit less effect, maybe I developed a tolerance. I also didn’t like the side effects so I switched to Armodafinil.

Waklert 150mg

Armodafinil Review

Armodafinil (Waklert brand) felt ‘cleaner’, more subtle with no side effects, no dry mouth, and I felt fine the next day. That matched other Waklert reviews online.

I did feel somewhat more focused and able to concentrate on tasks but I found if my mind wandered I’d end up focusing on dumb things instead of work. After around a week I started feeling weird and ‘down’.

I Googled it and some people do feel low, even suicidal, on it over time so I stopped. It effects people differently though and many extol the virtues of nootropics so your mileage may vary.

Preworkout Drinks for Focus

So maybe I’ll give Modafinil & Armodafinil another chance at some point but I find I enjoy preworkout drinks for focus. I take them in the morning then get a quick gym workout in.

It’s easy to get burnt out on simply drinking coffee, you get a tolerance for it, it’s dehydrating, etc. Preworkouts don’t seem to have this problem. Pulse and N.O.-Xplode are the best I’ve found.

I also like sugar free Monster energy drink which 7/11s sell in the Philippines, but not elsewhere in Asia. Preworkouts are better though, I have a positive mood all through the day.

Pulse Review

I’ve always followed Mike Matthews on his iTunes podcast and Youtube channel, he’s behind the ‘Muscle for Life’ website and started his own supplement chain on LegionAthletics.com.

The main thing I like about his Pulse preworkout is it contains L-Theanine which research shows improves mood, alertness, focus, attention, and reduces mental stress. This is definitely how I feel on it.

It works this way when paired with caffeine, which Pulse contains in the most clinically effective amount per dose (hard to measure with coffee unless you take coffee pills).

It also contains Citrulline Malate, Beta Alanine, Betaine and L-Ornithine which lower fatigue. That doesn’t just apply to exercise fatigue – I also find I can work for longer before tiredness sets in.

Of course, there are also all the additional health and focus benefits that come from regularly working out – and if you’re taking preworkouts you’ll be keen to go the gym a lot more often.

Basically I wake up with preworkout, get a great workout in, then feel productive working, and have a pleasant uplifting mood all day. Google ‘L-Theanine Euphoria’.

Check out Pulse preworkout reviews online, thousands of five star ratings from verified purchases.

N.O.-Xplode Review

NO X-Plode also contains caffeine, Betaine and Beta Alanine, and has a great flavor. The main reason I like it though is for the Creatine and Taurine.

At first I just wanted to try Creatine as it’s said to be one of the only supplements that really works, essentially it helps you hold onto muscle while cutting and gain / retain strength.

You lose body fat while taking caffeine (it raises metabolism) and have lower food cravings so taking Creatine at the same time made sense to hold onto as much muscle as possible.

I do find it easier to lean down and look ripped taking Creatine but this article isn’t about that. I started noticing I had a good mood and focus.

I found studies showing Creatine also has a positive effect on brain function and mood, stimulating the energy molecule ATP in the brain. We burn through ATP when performing mental tasks, i.e. working.

As for Taurine, I only knew it at first from Red Bull. But it does a lot more than keep you awake / wired. It’s an essential amino acid that lowers stress and is linked to testosterone production.

Anecdotally, NO X-Plode has a slight erection boosting effect – the L-Arginine and Taurine in it are good for vascularity and blood flow.

Check out N.O. X-Plode reviews online, thousands of five star ratings from verified purchases.

Yohimbine

I also take Yohimbine, which again has a slight erection boosting effect, and is good for stubborn fat loss especially paired with caffeine on an empty stomach.

Like the preworkouts though there’s also an effect on focus – it’s a light stimulant that is said to increase motivation, mental performance and clarity. Although I can’t tell as I’m also taking preworkout.

It suppresses appetite, raises basal metabolic rate, and whether or not it’s having a focus / mood effect I do feel good looking more ripped and having a stronger erection.

Legion also have a Yohimine + Synephrine supplement ‘Forge’ and a longer Yohimbine review.

So that’s everything I take, everything can be ordered online or bought in stores with the exception of Pulse which is only online via Legion. You can buy Yohimbine from Enhanced Athlete gym in Angeles City.

Get $10 off your first purchase at LegionAthletics.com using the links on this page.

I get the same benefits of smart drugs – improved focus, concentration, productivity – at the same time as fat loss, gym motivation, muscle retention, and a boner!

Nootropics like Modafinil, Armodafinil and Piracetam have a deeper effect on the brain, actually modifying chemical receptors, which didn’t sit well with me. I felt strange on them.

Other Ways to Improve Focus

I also try to drink about a gallon of water a day. Being well hydrated improves brain function, even drinking one glass of water immediately before performing a particular task is said to increase brain speed 14%.

I don’t drink alcohol so I end up drinking soda water with lime all night as I barhop across several gogo bars, and I get a kind of cognitive high from being ultra-hydrated.

Other benefits include clearer skin as it flushes out the pores, and appearing slightly more ripped as the body holds on to less water.

Western Men Move to Asia Because They Can’t Get Laid Back Home?

$

Thai gogo bar

You’ve probably heard the stereotype that only the rejects of the West expatriate to countries like the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, etc., because they ‘can’t hack it’ back home.

Either they’re social misfits, can’t get laid with girls so need to move to impoverished countries, or both. Possibly they’re even criminals on the run, sex tourists, pedophiles, into ladyboys, or all of the above.

How much truth is there to it? Definitely some – you’ll meet some weird people if you move to South East Asia. As you would anywhere. Some go off the rails once they get here, I’d count myself as one of those.

IMO there’s about 10% truth to the stereotype, then the rest is anonymous haters on forums / social media who are jealous of guys having fun in the sun.

But I can only speak from personal experience. Perception is reality and everyone will have their own viewpoint. But most guys I’ve met since moving here are perfectly normal well-rounded people.

In this post I’ll give myself as an example of why I moved to SE Asia as an example – or more accurately, why I stayed – and the types of expats I’ve met so far.

My Background

I may be a weirdo and ‘sexpat’ now – it’s not normal in the eyes of society to have slept with hundreds of prostitutes, as I have – but initially that was not my plan at all. I didn’t pay for sex until 2 years in.

I didn’t even choose Thailand or anywhere in SE Asia at first either. The thought never occurred to me.

Thai pole dancer

Finishing Uni – 2008

I graduated from Imperial College London, BSc Physics. It’s usually ranked somewhere in the top 8 or so universities in the world, and #3 in the UK. Requires two A grades at A Level to apply, I had three.

I was also in the OTC (officer training corps, called ROTC in the US, like the Territorial Army for undergraduates), and finished 3rd in my class. That military training is equivalent to an NVQ Level 2.

I was an Army cadet from 13 to 18, doing similar activities to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program. Then became an adult instructor (‘Cadet Force Adult Volunteer’ they call it now).

On paper I’m probably in the top few %, academically. My friends ended up going into investment banking or finance. So why did I end up working for an online poker site and having a blog about sex tourism?

Pursuing Teaching

I’d taught in the ACF. I’d also been a volunteer maths tutor at uni. I liked teaching and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life, so decided to do a postgraduate teaching course (PGCE).

They pay a bursary while you train, and there’s no obligation to go into teaching after. I thought about going into the ETS branch of the UK Army – the Education & Training Services.

That would combine my interests in the Army and teaching. You complete a PGCE in the ETS, if you haven’t already done so as a civilian.

I still wanted to be in London as a civilian for a bit longer though so I applied to the Institute of Education. I got halfway through a PGCE before dropping out.

Sleeping Patterns

What I realised is that I can’t stick to a normal sleeping schedule. At uni I hadn’t needed to wake up early, lectures weren’t mandatory, I skipped most.

One of the first Thai girls I met

The voluntary tutoring I’d done was in the afternoons, and in the ACF I’d taught in the evenings.

As a teenager I’d always found it hard to wake up in the mornings and though that was something I’d just grow out of when I was older and started working – a PGCE is mostly on the job training.

I didn’t grow out of it. My body preferred the routine of sleeping around sunrise and waking up in the afternoon. Waking up at 7 to commute to school as a trainee teacher was a disaster.

It sounds like just being a lazy bum but actually DPSD – delayed phasic sleeping disorder – affects 7 to 16% of adolescents and 0.15% of adults. A chronic disregulation of the body’s circadian rhythms.

Considering Other Options

I applied to teach ESL in Greece as they start teaching late into the afternoons and finish at night. They also paid quite well. This was in 2009. They didn’t get back to me.

While waiting for their reply I was browsing the 2+2 Poker forums. The online poker boom happened when I was at uni and I played a bit as a student, joining the poker society and really getting into it.

Mostly I just read the NVG and strategy sections, but one day stumbled across the travel section and found out there was a community of players in Thailand. One guy posted a pic of a $250/month apartment.

It looked way nicer than the tiny cupboard sized room in Brixton I was paying over twice that for, sharing with other housemates.

I started reading and posting in the ‘ask us about Thailand’ thread, everyone was saying how awesome life was there, how their money went so much further and they easily supported themselves.

Flying to Thailand – 2009

I wasn’t that good at poker and was still interested in teaching so I took a TEFL course and flew to Thailand in Nov 2009 to teach English.

I also didn’t think it would be a good idea to even attempt to support myself just playing poker there. At this point I was still ‘normal’ – I thought it best to have a guaranteed job placement and source of income, etc.

The guys in the 2+2 forum thread were posting degen stories about girls, living a hookers and blow lifestyle, but that at this point I just wanted to travel, teach, have a job etc., sex didn’t factor into it.

I’d also looked into the JET Programme (Japan exchange and teaching), I almost ended up teaching there.

I had little idea what Thailand was like, I thought it was somewhere hippie backpackers would go to visit temples and beaches. Asian girls weren’t even on my radar at that point either.

Even though Imperial College was about 65% Asians, they weren’t attractive to me at the time.

They didn’t look like this at Imperial

Did I Get Laid Back Home?

I had 5 sexual partners in my life before Thailand. I lost my virginity at 19. From 17 – 18 I had a 10 month relationship followed by a 6 month relationship, where both of those girls were virgins, as was I.

Looking back now this is absolutely amazing to me. I’d never wait that long now or be the gentleman I was about it.  Anyway I finally had sex in my first year of uni with a girl who’d had sex before.

I was on the shy, quiet side but nothing crazy and I wouldn’t say I ‘couldn’t get laid’ back home in the West. I did ok. I later had long term relationships with an Australian then a French girlfriend, and another ONS.

Then the 5th was night one in Thailand, my TEFL placement was with 10 other people, mostly western girls. As part of the orientation package the company put us up in a hotel and I banged one of them.

Bangkok

So I wake up (late afternoon), first full day in Bangkok. I’m 23. At this point I’ve had sex with 5 girls, all white western, every encounter with a condom unless with a long term girlfriend on the pill or with Implanon.

I haven’t been counting but I remember noting that I had 5 more sexual partners in the first few months of living in Bangkok, and wishing I’d made the move sooner.

Fast forward almost 8 years, I just turned 31, writing this (at 3am when I feel most productive) in 2017. Now I’ve slept with I think over 300 women, all Asian, of which a bit over half was paid prostitution.

I started mixing in some prostitutes after about 2 years, and haven’t slept with another western girl since that TEFL teacher on night one.

I’ve had three long term relationships in Asia. Now I’ve reversed tastes and find Asian girls more attractive, some call this the ‘yellow fever’ effect.

Working Online

Even though Thailand teaching was a lower workload than the PGCE I couldn’t avoid some morning lessons and waking up for other duties. So that was a disaster as well.

I should’ve known, but wanted to try again, and thought it best to have a job and a reason to give my parents as to why I was moving to Asia.

So I left that job, and frantically tried to get better at poker. I did, but also started writing about it freelance for poker sites on the side, after finding an ad asking for writers.

That eventually became a full time position so I didn’t need to play poker anymore, and through writing for the poker site I learnt some SEO & WordPress skills, enough to start a blog myself on the side with Dante.

10 Baht coin & Wat Arun temple

So now I support myself online through content writing, blogging and a bit of investing. I get by enough to not need to go home.

So that’s why I stayed, I found a way to get by. I had no idea I’d end up living abroad though, let alone where.

In a way blogging is like teaching, I get to help people and share my experiences. I had about 10000 posts on forums across the internet too, answering people’s questions about living in Thailand or the Philippines.

Why I’m an Expat in SE Asia

To sum it up, the main reason I’m an expat in Asia is because due to my sleeping patterns I can’t work a normal job. I have to work online from home with flexible hours, everything else I tried didn’t pan out.

Fortunately the content writing I do can be done at any time of day. It doesn’t pay very well though, so that’s the SE Asia part. It’s cheap to live here, so it makes more sense to work online here.

Not that I live on a budget, I spend as much as I did in London but the money goes much further. You can live comfortably here on what would be poverty wages or a student bursary in the West. Location arbitrage.

Does that mean I ‘can’t hack it’ in the West? Maybe so, I haven’t been officially diagnosed with DPSD by a doctor but I’m pretty sure I do have it.

Lots of casual sex / hookers are just a bonus, I’d still choose to live in places like Thailand and the Philippines even if I had to settle down with one girl.

I could live cheaply and work online at home in Eastern Europe or South America but the people in SE Asia are friendlier so I’d rather be here.

Am I a Weirdo?

I did go off the rails a bit banging so many hookers, not using condoms very much, etc. but I don’t consider it that weird. Maybe I could’ve wrapped up a bit more often.

Thai working girl

Friends back home are shocked and tell me I’ve changed a lot, but you have to try it to understand that hookers here are actually really cool people. I wrote more about that in this comment on a post.

I’ve also had normal relationships, and normal hookups, even though some people seem to think it’s all or nothing and if you sleep with one prostitute it means you can never get laid normally…

I even took a Thai girl to the UK to stay with me while she did a 3 week business English course. She had wanted to study abroad, a Masters.

I told her don’t bother, just get any certificate that says she studied abroad on it, it’ll have much the same effect as a postgrad degree as I bet Thai employers don’t pay that much attention.

We crashed on the sofa of a friend’s place in London while she did the course, the certificate at the end said ‘University of London Business English’ on it.

Only cost her 300 quid and she got a new job in Bangkok with double the salary when she came back. And I taught her a lot of English, while she taught me Thai.

Weird Expat Story

The reason I thought to write this post is because I was thinking about Ron Fanelli. I never met him in person but he also posted in the 2+2 Thailand thread, and was part of the poker community I’m in.

He killed a Thai bargirl he was dating, chopped up her body and dumped it in a suitcase by the side of the road. Although some say he didn’t actually dismember the body, just put her in the suitcase intact.

He’s currently in Thai prison. Now, this is the rare case of nutcase expat that people always like to cite as an example of what kind of man moves to SE Asia.

I was searching Google to find out when he’d be released, as I remember for some reason he only got a 10 year sentence. He was sentenced in 2011.

I came across a thread about him and read this comment:

We all know why men choose to live in Thailand – to satisfy their sexual appetites with women who are expected to behave in ways that appease the broken egos of men unable, or unwilling, to deal equally with empowered women, in societies that do not condone their sexual exploitation.

I read a lot of comments like this on places like Reddit. That men only move to Asia for ‘submissive’ women, and / or because we can’t get high quality women in our home countries.

Like I said maybe there’s some 10% truth to that, but some act like it’s 100%.

I’d just apply Occam’s razor and look for the simple reasons – girls here are more friendly, less fat, they like men more and want a relationship / family instead of chasing careers, and you can live better for the same amount of money.

How to Not Be Denied Entry to Thailand

$

BFS Priority Lane service

In the Philippines it’s easy to be a perpetual tourist, you can extend your stay within the country for 3 years at a time, without working there, being married to a local, or being retirement age. Then repeat.

Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia are also easy places to live for a young single digital nomad.

Thailand is more complicated, especially lately. In 2017 four guys I know have been denied entry at the airport, put in a detention cell, and had to buy expensive last minute flight tickets out.

Then there were half a dozen more reports of denials on the Thaivisa.com forums and Bangkok expats Facebook group. Others were allowed entry but pulled aside and asked questions first.

All affected were under 50 (so not eligible for retirement extensions – Thailand is easy if you’re over 50), not married to a Thai, and were digital nomads that work online / live off savings. I’m also all those things.

In this post I’ll talk about how to avoid being denied entry to Thailand and why it happens. I may be getting lucky but I haven’t been denied entry yet in 8 years.

#1 – Carry 20,000 Baht

Almost all of those denied entry were unaware of an archaic Thailand immigration requirement – being able to show 20,000 baht cash (about 600 USD) as ‘proof of funds’ to support your stay.

So as well as being under 50 / unmarried / no work permit with a Thai entity – and therefore using tourist visas – they also didn’t have 20k baht cash on them, or the equivalent in another currency.

Can’t blame them for not knowing because it’s not really talked about anywhere, Thailand has had it in their rules for many years but it’s very rarely enforced for western foreign tourists. Until now.

It recently made international news, e.g. The Sun linked it to a possible crackdown on ‘begpackers’ – backpackers without money to support their travel that went viral on social media. So did The Independent.

If you spend over 180 days in Thailand per year, I’d say start carrying 20k baht every time you enter.

No ATMs Before Immigration

What makes this requirement annoying is there are no ATMs airside between getting off the plane and passport control, at any of Thailand’s airports. There are only currency exchange booths.

According to most reports IOs will not escort you to an ATM even though it’s 10 metres away past immigration. Sometimes they will, but usually not.

Nor will they usually accept you showing them your bank balance on a smartphone, any kind of bank book or printed statement, or traveller’s cheques. Only cash.

Any major currency that can be exchanged in Thailand is said to be ok, but there are never any definite answers when it comes to Thailand. Ideally you’d show Thai Baht.

If you’re flying in with foreign currency you could get 20,000 THB worth at the exchange booth airside, then any more than that use the Super Rich branch at Asoke BTS station for a better exchange rate.

Or if you’re already living in Thailand and have a Thai bank account, what I do is withdraw 20k when I leave the country, stash it in my luggage, and pull it out again when I re-enter Thailand.

10k Baht on Visa Exemption?

The proof of funds requirement is said to be 10,000 baht if you enter visa-free (without a visa, for a 30 day ‘visa exemption’ stamp), 20,000 baht if you have a tourist visa already before entering (see sign below).

That may be technically true but I’d still personally just carry 20,000 baht. If you’re going to go the hassle of carrying 10k, might as well make it 20k. And you never know with Thailand.

Some IOs don’t care and just stamp through everyone, some actively want to deny people and make up the rules. Some people still get denied even if they have 20k baht on them. So I wouldn’t risk carrying 10k.

#2 – Dress Smart & Use the Priority Lane

Some signposts at Thailand borders make reference to the financial requirements and also warn tourists with ‘hippy characteristics’ like long hair, wearing shorts and singlet, flip flops etc.

Notice to dress smart and carry funds

These are outdated signs – today 20,000 Baht is more like $600 – but some IOs do still think this way.

As silly as it may seem, Thailand is a developing country and to some of the older generation – who work in immigration – appearance matters.

No need to wear a suit and tie but I’d recommend wearing trousers, shirt, having well kept hair and being clean shaven. Thais also think the color white is ‘clean’, so go for a white shirt or polo top.

Fast Track Immigration

One guy I know who was denied entry to Thailand got back into the country using the priority lane.

Bangkok Flight Services charge 850 baht for one of their reps to meet you as you get off the plane, then escort you through a fast lane in a separate section of immigration.

I read about that service on SingleMansParadise forum, used it myself and everything went fine. The Thai girl that meets you is really cute as well.

It may not be foolproof but it gives you the appearance of ‘wealth’.

I also felt like in that separate part of immigration the IOs were less likely to send you away to a room for extra questioning because there are no supervisors standing around the booths. Harder for them to call someone over if they want to escalate things.

#3 – Use Land Borders

With the exception of Poipet (one of the Cambodia borders), IOs at land borders don’t seem to be as picky as airport IOs. The easiest border is at Nong Khai (Laos).

There are some restrictions on visa-free entries by land – you can only have two visa exemptions per year if entering by land, as opposed to 6 at the airport.

Just get a tourist visa from e.g. Vientiane consulate, the easiest one to do so at, then proceed over the Nong Khai border to Udon Thani, then fly domestic to Bangkok from the airport there.

Another option is to take the train into Thailand from Malaysia ,then fly domestic from Hat Yai.

At land borders you don’t get detained, you’re just turned around and you can then try again the next day, try another land border (e.g. Savannakhet is another Laos border), or fly as a last resort.

Also land borders sometimes don’t even put a denied entry stamp in your passport.

The Reasons IOs Use to Deny Entry

‘Being a tourist too long’ isn’t a reason to be denied entry to Thailand. There aren’t any official limits on how many days in your lifetime you can spend in Thailand on tourist visas.

The possible reasons they can use to deny are listed in section 12 of the immigration act:

Section 12 : Aliens which fall into any of the following categories are excluded from entering:
1. Having no genuine and valid passport or document used in lieu of passport.
2. Having no appropriate means of living following entrance into the Kingdom.
3. Having entered into the Kingdom to take occupation as a laborer or to take employment by using physical without skills training or to work in violation of the Ministerial Regulations.
4. Being mentally unstable or having any of the disease as prescribed in the Ministerial Regulations.
5. Having not yet been vaccinated against smallpox or inoculated or undergone any other medical treatment for protection against disease and having refused to have such vaccinations administered by the Immigration Doctor.
6. Having been imprisoned by the judgement of the Thai Court ; or by a lawful injunction ; or by the judgement of the Court of foreign country , except when the penalty is foe petty offense or negligence or is provided for as an exception in the Ministerial Regulations.
7. Having behavior which would indicated possible danger to the public or likelihood of being a nuisance or constituting any violence to the peace or safety of the public or to the security of the public or to the security of the nation , or being under warrant of arrest by competent officials of foreign governments.
8. Reason to believe that entrance into the Kingdom was for the purpose of being involved in prostitution, the trading of women or children, drug smuggling, or other types of smuggling which are contrary to the public morality.
9. Having no money or bond as prescribed by the Minister under him.
10. In the instance where for reason of national welfare or safeguarding the public peace, culture, morality, or welfare, or when the Minister considers it improper to allow any alien or any group of alien to enter into the Kingdom.
11. Being deported by either the Government of Thailand that of or other foreign countries ; or the right of stay in the Kingdom or in foreign countries having been revoked ; or having been sent out of the Kingdom by competent officials at the expense of the Government of Thailand unless the Minister shall consider exemption on an individual special case basis.

Most of that is obvious stuff, like people who have previous criminal convictions, those who are already blacklisted, or if you start a fight in the airport or something.

For the vast majority of normal cases there are only 2 reasons you’ll be denied entry – lack of proof of funds, or suspicion of working illegally.

Denial of entry stamp

On the above stamp you see the number 3 and 9 in parentheses, these refer to reason (3) and (9) on the above list – suspicion of entering Thailand to work, and not having money.

The stamp also has ประกอบอาชีพ, ไม่มีเงิน written in Thai which means ‘way of earning a living, no money’. Then the date, flight number and IO’s signature.

That guy was detained then flown to Singapore on the next available flight, which is where he flew in from.

Usually lately they seem to be flying people back to where they flew in from, so I’d recommend not flying in direct from your home country if you’re likely to be denied entry.

Instead fly in to somewhere nearby – Manila, Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh, etc. – then fly to BKK from there. A lot cheaper that way if you only have to pay for a short hop flight when denied.

Who is Likely to Be Denied Entry to Thailand?

You have nothing to worry about until you attempt to live in Thailand for over 6 months in a year. If you’ve spent <180 or so days in Thailand in the last 365, this post won’t apply to you at all.

You can also probably get away with 8 – 9 months a year in Thailand, I’d say a greater than 50% likelihood of never running into problems, although there are still things you can do to minimize it.

It’s only when you start getting to close to living 365 days a year in Thailand, because all your trips outside Thailand are very short in duration – basically just ‘visa runs’ – that you risk being denied entry.

To minimize risk carry 20k baht, dress smart, and use the priority lane at the airport or land borders.

Then it’s less likely they’ll use lack of money / suspicion of working to deny you entry.

I still think Thailand is relatively easy to live in long term, and people shouldn’t be put off trying to do so. While some immigration officers (IOs) might be unfriendly, once you’re in it’s a great place to be.

Getting a HIV Test In Bangkok

Bangkok HIV test

For a 200 baht ($6), anonymous, 60 min HIV test in Bangkok head to Silom MRT or Ratchadamri BTS station, then it’s a 5 min walk to the Thai Red Cross clinic, no appointment required.

I wasn’t that worried as it’s difficult to get HIV from heterosexual sex, something like 1 in 1000 – 2000 odds of female to male transmission, if the girl is HIV positive, per unprotected exposure (no condom).

However I’ve slept with around 500 girls, mostly bareback and sex workers from around Southeast Asia. Thais, Filipinas, Indonesians, Viets, a handful from Cambodia / China / Africa. A few anal.

No ladyboys or sharing needles with drug users, which is where most AIDS happens, but counting the times I repeated girls the number of unprotected exposures with prostitutes is in the thousands.

The presence of other STDs can increase the odds of HIV transmission too. Chlamydia is fairly common, I’ve had that and most guys I know have too.

There’s also Syphilis and Hepatitis B, which you can catch and sometimes not have any symptoms. I also tested for those at the Thai Red Cross clinic. Total cost 800 baht, plus 20 baht paperwork fee.

I tested negative for HIV, Hep B, and Syphilis

Thai Red Cross Opening Hours

  • Monday – Friday 7.30am – 3pm

It’s best to go early in the morning as the queues can get long and there’s a long lunch break in the middle of the day, if you hit that you’ll be waiting for longer than one hour.

It’s next to Bangkok’s largest green space Lumpini Park, you can walk around that for 60 mins while you wait for the results, there’s a 50 baht outdoor gym, or Patpong market is 15 mins walk.

At 10am the blowjob bar Star of Light on Patpong Soi 2 opens, you could quickly get a BJ there.

Star of Light Blowjob bar

4th Generation HIV Test

The Thai Red Cross test is a CMIA 4th generation blood test, which has the shortest window period. Doctors’ opinions vary but it’s said to be able to detect HIV within 2 weeks, or certainly within 6 weeks.

At any rate, a much shorter window period than the usual 3 months for HIV testing.

The syphilis and hep B is also a blood test, the same sample, you get one injection.

Lumpini park gym, free for Thais, 50 baht for foreigners

How it Works

As you walk you get a ticket from the machine by the door, wait for your number to be called to go over to a computer. There you enter your initials, you can make up fake ones if you want.

Then you select what STD tests you want, as well as the HIV test you can get tested for Syphilis, Hep B, Herpes, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, anal cancer, and you can buy PrEp drugs for 630 baht / month.

You then enter your number into the computer, sit back down, and when your number is called again walk upstairs and to the left where the injection happens.

An hour later you come back and walk upstairs to the right, where your number gets called to receive the test results privately in an office.

Home HIV Test

If you don’t like injections or want to test a girl before you sleep with her, Oraquick home HIV test kits are FDA approved and you can order on Amazon.

Best Angeles City Apartment? Kandi Towers Review

I recently stayed at Kandi Towers apartment in Angeles for $50/night on Airbnb (~2600 pesos). I took some pics of the 70sqm, one bedroom ,10th floor unit with balcony, and the Kandi Towers facilities.

Hotel accommodation is often overpriced in the Philippines for what you get. You can’t find a nicer place to stay in AC than this for 2600 pesos / night. I’d rate it the best Angeles City room I’ve stayed in.

Balcony view of Mount Arayat

ABC Hotel for example is 6000 pesos / night for a 40sqm studio with comparable amenities (swimming pool, gym, rooftop bar and restaurant).

I wrote about Royal Amsterdam being next to the bars and being good for your own wifi router – 2600 pesos would get you a Superior studio there without pool, gym, or rooftop.

Separate bedroom

Kandi Towers Daily Rental

If you’re new to Airbnb.com you can also sign up via this blog for a free $35 to put towards your first booking. There’s currently one Kandi Towers unit for daily rental listed on the site.

It’s often unavailable so try to book in advance. Here’s the listing.

LCD TV with Cable

Location

I’d also rate Kandi Towers the best Angeles City apartment on location as to get any closer to the action you’d need to be staying in a hotel.

It’s 500m to Fields Avenue, and 850m to Walking Street. 700m to where the ‘massage girl’ freelancers stand by Manson drug, and walking distance to the Perimeter bars too.

Kitchen

On Flora Street, Kandi Towers is a 15 min walk to HISO disco or a 100 peso trike ($2). There’s a trike stand outside the apartment. Google maps location.

Other Angeles City condos – e.g. Gardenview Apartments, Horizon Tower, Hensonville, Zeppelin Suites – are further out from the action.

Shower on balcony

A few others are about the same distance, in the vicinity of Kandi Towers – Grosvenor Square, Chatsworth Suites, Sofia Suites, and Kandi Villa.

I’ll finish this post later there’s some more pics on Instagram if you want to see.

The Frustrations of Doing Business with Filipinos

$
0
0

This is a guest post by Dagnasty, a US expat living and working in Manila since 2013, doing business alongside local Filipinos.

Makati Avenue, Manila

The bar is set very low when it comes to doing good business in the Philippines. If you can answer a phone, list your business hours, provide a map to your shop, and listen to your customers, you’ll beat out most of your competitors here.

The other day I walked into a motorcycle shop with 100,000 pesos in hand to buy a motorcycle. I asked the saleswoman to show me a used bike. She took me over to the nearest one. Looked great! I told her I’d take it. Right after that, she told me that I couldn’t buy it!

  • “Why not?”
  • “It’s for installment payment only ser, and foreigners are not eligible for financing.”
  • “No problem, I’ll pay 100% cash.”
  • “You cannot pay cash.”
  • (What the fuck do you mean I can’t pay cash?)
  • “So you’re saying, if I paid one million pesos for this scooter, you couldn’t make this sale?”
  • “Sorry, I can’t ser…”
  • “Two million?”
  • “No, I can’t ser.”

I turned to my wife and said, “I gotta get the fuck out of here or someone is going to have to take me to a doctor. I can’t talk to this woman anymore or I’m going to call her an idiot.” My wife turned and said that if she was in charge of the shop, she’d jump off the roof.

Ayala Triangle Gardens, Makati

I walked to the next shop and asked them the same question. One woman said that they do NOT have any second hand bikes for sale. I lied to the woman next to her and said I had a Filipino wife and that everything was ok. The woman next to her said that they DID HAVE bikes for sale and that her coworker would happily show me. One told the other that since I had a local wife, they could make the sale.

At this point, I’m pretty frustrated and I said to the first woman, “Wait, you just told me to my face that you don’t have any motorcycles, how are you going to be able to show me one?” She said that she only had one available. After that, she took me to a beat up piece of garbage in a row of otherwise acceptable second hand bikes and insisted that it was the only one available to me.

I walked away, called an Uber, and agreed with my wife that we’d buy directly from an individual incentivized with getting a sale – and not a store.

Before we left, she also suggested that we push the motorcycle over and break it. So that maybe the clerk would say that we had to pay for it. (When in all honesty, all that would happen is that the cops would show up, demand that we pay a small amount to avoid getting thrown in jail, and the bike would be sat upright and probably sold for the same price or a few dollars less, but not to a foreigner – fuck off and go home!)

Regarding this issue, my friend RealGuy once said, “Often Filipino employees are given zero leeway on what they can do, and are penalized if they go outside their bounds.” This is very true, and managers of Pinoys must be careful to realize that if one step is impossible, everything stops – no matter how obvious the fix.

A high school math teacher once told me, that you need to know 10 different ways to solve any problem or else one day, you’ll be stuck at the top of a steep hill in a car with a dead battery, no jumper cables, nobody to help you, and no idea how to fix your problem.

This is very true – because if you’re a manager here, every day you’re probably going to want to shove one of your employees down a hill.

Lazy Filipino employee

At my day job, if I told a client who wanted to spend two grand that I couldn’t make a “no questions asked” sale, I’d be dismissed in a matter of seconds. But here, most staff doesn’t give a damn whether the business succeeds or fails.

They have zero incentive to work hard because of their low salaries, poor education, poorer management, and a law that makes them fairly difficult to fire if they’re tenured employees. The Philippines isn’t a poor country, but it is poorly managed.

I once had a professor teach in a class that the amount of trust in any interaction is directly related to the amount of future interactions you’ll have with the other party. After my time in South East Asia, I have to disagree. I’ve seen vendors that could have a customer for life – decide to make a quick buck due to lack of foresight. Some people here really believe that a dollar today is better than five dollars tomorrow.

It’s frustrating to watch this kind of incompetence, but that’s where outside business owners can otherwise crush their competition. RealGuy also said, “the problem is, once someone has your money here, they have no incentive to deliver on promises or honor agreements.”

You might ask yourself, what could you possibly sell in the Philippines that they don’t already have? My answer – customer service. In a country filled with customer service call centers for almost anything, there’s surprisingly little customer service actually happening on the ground here. There’s lots of lip service (bullshit), but very few promises are actually kept.

Filipino Fast Food chain

If something gets promised and doesn’t get done right away, that’s definitely a promise that’s not getting kept. I once had a long coffee meet with one of the richest businesswomen in the Philippines and her stock trader. Her trader said to both of us, “If you want to make any money in this city, sell coffee, convenience food, candy, or condoms.”

We all started cracking up when she said condoms (Really? Who uses those here?) – but her point stands, cheap stuff sells at a high volume in Manila.

The problem with selling cheap stuff is that you’ll need to sell a lot of it. Most used to a western salary will find it faster and smarter to fly home to make a quick buck than a quick peso. The good news is, there’s no shortage of buyers with a few pesos in their pockets.

If you’re an outsider and you can treat your customers better than everyone else, you might stand to come out ahead for a short while (until local elites notice and want their cuts).

Realistically, the Philippines is one of the most difficult countries in Asia to do legal business in. “It takes 161 days of starting a business, among the worst in the world, compared to only a day in New Zealand, 2 days in Australia, 3 days in Canada, and 4 days in Singapore.”

Ayala Avenue, Makati

There are plenty of hoops and red tape to jump through, and many “fixers” who would happily take piles of your money to help you navigate the bureaucracy of working in the Philippines.

The Pinoy economy is fairly protectionist mandating that local citizens own the majority share of most any business.

Some expats use the assistance of a Filipino business partner or spouse, but any long-timer here will tell you a dozen sad stories about foreigners having their legally capped 40% stake in a business stolen from them (despite financing 100% of the business).

Trust doesn’t go very far here, and the most successful foreign business owners have local owners (in name only) while the real boss handles his/her business from a distance.

If you ever get frustrated by doing business with Filipinos here, consider doing things yourself. I’ll always go the extra mile and pay the extra dollar to someone who knows how to get things done in the Philippines.

This is my first time writing on this blog, if you’d like to read more, I’ve got more – let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Critters Everywhere

Every single apartment I have stayed in Asia has had an ant problem. You just can’t keep any food out in the open or you will wake up one day and have hundreds of ants eating it. I have to keep everything without an air tight seal in my fridge.

Even if you use a cooler they will find a way in. I guess I could probably just buy a lot of big tupperware boxes to keep food in, but instead I just throw stuff like chips or cereal in the fridge. Take them out 5 minutes before you want to eat them and they are fine.

It doesn’t matter if I am staying in a cheap place or a nice place ants get in. I have tried using different products to get rid of them but nothing works. I have given up and have grown used to them. Just wash any silverware or plates right before using them, not a big deal really.

Rats

Before moving to Asia I had never seen a wild rat. Now I see them often. In Sihanoukville I had a few close encounters with them, including when one jumped in my bed within my first hour in the city.

When I would go use the kitchen at my hotel late at night there was always one that was in the same corner. And every night would be the same routine. I would turn on the light and make some noise trying to get him to run out, but he never would.

Then I would go into the kitchen and start making my food, and at some point he would run out with a quickness like he thought I was trying to kill him. Often he would smash into the fridge or a wall because he was so out of control.

One night I had to get something out of the fridge, it was on the bottom shelf so I crouched down like a catcher, right as I reached for it was when the rat decided he had to make a go for it. Right between my legs he ran and I almost had a heart attack.

You hear and see them scurrying in the bushes or running from one hole to another on the side of buildings. From time to time you see one flat as a pancake in the middle of the road.

Roaches

Cockroaches are also quite common here, and they are huge. Most places I stay don’t actually have them in the rooms often, but sometimes they sneak in. Again they really aren’t that big of a deal. You already have to wash your silverware before using it anyways.

I have found the easiest way to get them out is using a dust pan. Just trap them in a corner and they will run into the pan, hold it at an angle and they cant run up it. A broom is a good way to sweep a lot of ants out at once also.

Even Gramercy Residences one of the nicest condos in Manila with 70 floors has a roach problem now. Usually they are the small roaches but occasionally you see the big size ones too.

Mosquitoes

Without a doubt mosquitoes are the most annoying of all the critters around. Mainly because they can give you diseases like Dengue Fever or Malaria. I always do my best to keep my doors and windows shut but they still sneak in from time to time.

Maids here love to leave the door open as they clean your room and this always allows a few to get in. Even if you ask them and remind them odds are they will leave your door open. Really annoying.

They have these electric mosquito killers that look like a tennis racket. They are very effective and if you are as paranoid about mosquitoes as I am you should definitely get one. Will cost you about $5.

Let me know your experience with bugs and other critters in the comments.

Manila Escort Girls via Smooci App

Craigslist personals and Backpage.com have sadly been closed down due to a new sex trafficking bill being passed, but escort site Smooci.com is expanding.

I previously tried out Smooci in Bangkok, Thailand, had a good experience and wrote a review. Now the ‘Uber for prostitutes’ app has cum to Manila, Philippines (and recently Singapore).

You can now order a Filipina escort straight to your room, with GPS tracking and knowing in advance what the girl can do – select from filters including anal sex, rimming, couples, lesbian action, and more.

They’re working with trusted Manila escort agencies such as Manila Courtesans which I also tried out and wrote a review on. Some of their escorts will have special discount prices on Smooci.

100+ Filipina Escorts

Girls are being added right now, with over 100 sexy Pinays set to be on offer. There are also ladyboy escorts, if you select that filter.

Over time it should grow even bigger as more escort agencies get involved and freelancers take notice – Smooci lets them join up too.

Prices on Smooci Manila start from 4200 pesos ($80) for which you get 2 shots (sex twice) and 2 hours with the girl, and she pays her own cab fare.

There are also some Eastern European girls on the app, for example if you filter for Manila Courtesans there’s a ‘Sophia’ from Latvia.

Cost of Sex in Manila

I prefer Angeles City but if I go mongering in Manila it’s usually at Kojax gogo bar (aka ‘XOXO’ half the week), in the P Burgos Street red light district, Makati. That’s where I’ve always found the hottest Manila girls.

There the barfine is 2900 pesos, the tip to the girl after sex is 3000, and lady drinks are 300 – 400 depending on the drink, of which hopefully she only has one before I take her.

In total about 6500 pesos, and usually it’s just one shot before the girl leaves. Other gogos charge more, weirdly ones with worse quality girls – Plan B started charging 3500 barfine, Ringside charges 3900.

Rogue’s charges 1600 for some dancers, but others are 3200 barfine. Confusing.

Streetwalkers and ‘massage girls’ don’t have a barfine but usually want 500 for their ‘manager’ / ‘shop’, on top of the 2500 – 3000 cost of sex for the better looking ones.

Nightclub freelancers at Royal and ZZYZX are around the same, 2500 – 3000 ($50 – $60).

Overall Manila is a bit expensive so the Smooci prices aren’t bad considering you get 2 shots and 2 hours. Plus kinky stuff like anal, threesomes etc. is hard to find with Filipinas, but most of the Smooci girls do it.

Rated Manila Escorts

I like that they now added a premium feature where you can read verified customer reviews to find out if the girl looks like her photos, and how good her various services are.

Also now many girls offer a ‘guide’ service, so if you book long time and want a sexy tour guide to take you out exploring after you’ve finished in the bedroom, that’s on offer too.

Isabelle from Manila Courtesans can be your tour guide

Filipina girls are great at giving the girlfriend experience (GFE).

Eventually Smooci plan to expand to Pattaya, Hong Kong, Macau and Kuala Lumpur, already having become the biggest Bangkok escort site.

Exclusive Interview with Smooci, the Uber for Escorts

$

Regular readers will know I’ve been impressed by the Smooci escort booking site and have done reviews of their initial Bangkok launch and the more recent launch in Manila. They’re also now in Singapore.

The Smooci team have been kind enough to give me an exclusive interview to get a bit deeper into what Smooci is.

– Could you do a quick pitch on what Smooci is, to someone who has never heard of it before?

Sure, Smooci is an Escort booking site, like a next generation Escort directory. Clients make real time searches and get live results of girls who are ready to respond and meet.

Before ordering an escort girl, clients can see genuine ratings and reviews. I believe we are the only site with fully verified reviews, all from clients who had confirmed bookings with the escort.

When the client finds the girl they like they can confirm the booking with a few clicks, and the request goes to the Escort’s app. She then has 10 mins to accept but most requests are accepted within 3 mins.

Once a booking is confirmed the client is told when the escort is on her way to meet, giving the client a GPS link to track their date to their door, Uber/Grab style.

The client also gets a review link once the booking is complete, allowing the client to leave a star rating, write a review of their meeting, and vote whether the photos were accurate.

Smooci seemed to come out of nowhere. How did the idea come up and how did you get started?

We came at it from a tech angle. Our experience is in software and apps, and we had previously worked closely with a well-known food delivery company.

We were asked to help a Bangkok escort agency with their management system. They had a lot of girls and were struggling to keep organized. We created an app platform for them and management dashboard.

The new system showed them when a girl was available and where she was, with live schedules and locations, meaning if a client called about a girl they could accurately say when she would be available.

One of the benefits was that when the client called saying his date was late they could live track her and give accurate updates. Within a few months the agency had almost doubled in size, word had got out.

Other agencies were interested, and we saw the potential to create a new Escort directory, helping every agency organize and sharing the extra control directly with the client.

So we did just that, launching in BKK in 2016. By 2017 Smooci was the biggest Thailand Escort site.

– With the sudden closure of backpage and craigslist’s personals section, it seems your major competition was taken out almost overnight. How has that affected Smooci and your plans to grow?

The closure of backpage wasn’t a huge surprise, they’d been having problems for a while, mainly because their platform was so open and unregulated.

Stories of underage sex and human trafficking on backpage had been around for years, and they’d had serious warnings from the FBI.

We had a real dilemma when first starting this project, we were a little nervous and apprehensive entering the industry, but decided that we could do something positive, creating something that increases fairness and safety for both the clients and the escorts- that is at the core of the Smooci concept.

We work closely with industry specialist lawyers to ensure we are making positive moves.

– A lot of clients will be nervous about using the credit cards or putting their personal info into Smooci, what could you say to reassure them that this is all safe?

Data security is very much in the news at the moment. Facebook has been in the spotlight for their failures, and the new GDPR regulations are pushing everyone to start taking greater responsibility of their client’s data and data security. Again, it’s something which has been at the core of our concept since we began.

Regarding payments, when a client purchases a premium membership this is done through a secure third party, and when a payment is complete we are only informed of the last 4 digits of the card used to make the payment the email address, which then allows us to create the account.

No other card info is given to us or stored on our system. We also don’t use auto-rebilling. This is something I’ve always hated, and I don’t think it’s fair when subscriptions to memberships renew as a default. We are confident clients will like our product and keep renewing their membership manually.

In terms of how we treat client data, we strictly don’t share any info with any third party, other than the escort or agency the booking is with, giving them the minimum info they need to confirm the booking.

– What other problems have you encountered while entering the Escort industry?

We quickly realized what the main scams and problems were. Bait and switch, false ages, heavily photo shopped pictures, these were industry wide problems, and things we knew we had to try tackle.

The ability to show verified comments goes a long way to exposing any escorts not playing fairly, while a client flagging system allows the Escorts to notify us if they have a problem client, and if a client gets several flags a warning is sent to the Escort whenever that client makes a booking.

The photo voting means a client gets to vote whether the photos are accurate or not, after a booking is complete. It’s somewhat subjective but if a photo gets a high number of negative votes the system automatically removes it, and if a photo gets almost exclusively positive votes it is marked as being verified.

We will also be adding age verification soon. This will be optional but it will allow escorts to request their age to be verified. They send us their ID and their age is highlighted as verified on their profile.

– Do you have any other cool updates coming up?

We have three big updates coming up. Incalls will give the ability to book Escorts offering incall, with verified locations and the ability for their client to track the route to the Escort. This is perhaps more immediately relevant to the Hong Kong and Singapore markets, but it sets us up ready to launch in Europe.

Another is online notifications. This allows premium members to also search offline Escorts and click to be notified when that Escort next comes online.

The last is a safety feature which chases up escorts who don’t respond after a booking is complete. It then tries to contact the escort 2 hours and 12 hours after a booking, and then we manually contact them if they still haven’t responded to the booking being over if no response 24 hours after a booking has ended.

We also give the escorts the option to add a security contact who we can contact at this point.

– The Manila launch has gone well, I’ve used Manila Courtesans agency before which you work with. Do you have plans to launch in more cities like Cebu or Angeles?

We’ve talked about the possibility of launching in Cebu. It’s not high on our hit list, but if Manila keeps growing and we get more interested there, I could see us launching in Cebu by this Summer.

Angeles City we have heard about but I’m not sure it’s a city which would benefit from our system. From what I understand it’s very much a bar scene in a condensed area. But if demand is there we are open to it.

– What other expansions do you have coming up? I notice Pattaya is mentioned as ‘coming soon’.

We’ve wanted to launch in Pattaya for a long time, we’ve had a lot of requests for their, from both clients and escorts, but we want to first get established on 3-4 other countries before becoming too big in Thailand.

Our next big target is Hong Kong. We are waiting for the incall ability to be complete first before we attempt to launch in HK and then start to tackle Singapore, which we did a soft launch in last month.

– What kind of things can the customer put in the ‘special requests’ box? And what’s the craziest thing anyone’s ever written there?

The special requests box is only limited by the client’s imagination. Usually it’s used to ask for uniforms, lingerie or toys, but it is sometimes used for more kinky requests.

We can’t share any of the details with you as we have to be completely respectful of the clients privacy. But you can check out the client comments on the escort profiles, there are some really interesting reads and it can be quite addictive just reading through the comments.

– What does the future hold for Smooci? Are looking to take over Southeast Asia? Even beyond that?

We are ambitious. We have had a lot of interest from Europe and Japan, and we would definitely like to start expanding out there before the end of the year.

But right now we still have unfinished business in Southeast Asia, and would like to complete the SEA circuit – Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong are in our sights at the moment.

Thanks for your time and for bringing us Smooci. I think this is going to be a huge success in Philippines and beyond, please try to get it out to more cities! Good luck.

Best Manila Gogo Bar – Kojax

$

Special pole dancing or costume shows, midnight Fri & Sat

The hottest bargirls I’ve found in Manila were at Kojax bar on Badajos Street, in the P Burgos red light district of Makati. Open Fri-Sun, and Mon-Thu the downstairs bar ‘XOXO’ is open, same owner, same girls.

Kojax & XOXO used to both be open 7 days, now they split the week. More dancers work weekends, so Kojax is better. XOXO is still good though. 2nd best gogo bar in Manila. Both open 8.30pm – 5am. Best to go early.

Kojax girls waiting for a customer

To take a dancer home from either bar costs 2900 peso barfine paid upfront in the gogo, then you pay the girl in your hotel after sex, usually 3000 pesos, 2500 possible if you negotiate or are a repeat customer.

This is different to Angeles City where you pay upfront 2500-3500, or Cebu where you pay upfront 3500-4000, and then do not pay the girl after sex. Manila is two payments, Thailand style, and is more expensive.

Main stage

Usually you’ll need to buy at least one lady drink to make the girl feel comfortable, these cost 300, 350 or 400 depending on the type. Sometimes the mamasans might insist you buy two. Plus your drink, 150-200.

So in total approx. 6500 pesos, which is 120 USD, or 4000 baht, slightly more than a Bangkok gogo bar (700 baht barfine, 2500-3000 to the girl, 170-200 per lady drink, 150 a beer).

Was hard to take pics, sorry for low quality

It’s 2-3x the cost of Angeles City gogo bars, and in Manila there are places to find cheaper prostitutes – on the street around P Burgos, Royal disco, ZZYZX disco, the EDSA gogo bars, etc.

In general I do prefer Angeles City. However some of the hottest Filipinas I have ever seen with were working at Kojax, so I begrudgingly paid the $120 at Kojax / XOXO, ten times.

Tell the staff which girl you want to sit and drink with

Four times I was able to get the girl’s contact info and avoid the barfine. They’re not allowed to be seen doing this so be discreet. I should’ve tried this more often, the barfine is a ripoff.

One time staff were watching so my girl went to the CR, wrote her number on a piece of paper, hid it in her bra, then slipped it to me mid lap-dance. Another girl spelt out her Facebook name for me to memorize.

Leaving with the girl after paying 2900 barfine

The third girl memorized my room number in the condotel opposite Kojax (Bel Air Soho Suites, some of the bargirls live there) and came knocking after work.

Some girls will be scared to get fired, but if you reassure them no one will find out, it’s doable because greedy Manila bars don’t usually give the girls any cut of the barfine.

A skinny Kojax girl

Their daily salary is low too, as is the cut from each lady drink, many Filipina bargirls barely breakeven on the taxi fares to and from work if they aren’t barfined. They depend on customers to barfine them for sex.

So with a sneakout you end up only paying 3000 ($60) plus drinks. The fourth girl I did this with needed extra convincing, she did it when I said I’d give her half the savings from not paying the barfine, so 4500.

A slim Kojax girl

Even if you have to barfine the first time, most girls will be ok to meet you privately after that. One Kojax girl would come to my room before work or on her off days for 1500-2000.

Filipina bargirls will sometimes stay with you long time for the same price, so you can have sex 2+ times, whereas Thai bargirls charge more for that. They’re also happy to bareback even more than Thailand.

Happy to pose for pics

I find around 30% of Manila gogo girls are happy to hang out and bang again, especially if you stay in a nice Airbnb ($35 off link) e.g. Gramercy, and 80% are ok with not using a condom. 40% / 90% in Angeles City.

So when you factor in that you might be able to bang more than once, probably rawdog, and can set up cheaper follow up meets, the high Manila mongering prices start to look better.

Threesome, 2500 each, no condom with each

Filipinas working girls are usually good in bed, I was never disappointed with a Kojax girl even the times it was one shot with condom. All do DFK and BBBJ.

I was never robbed in my apartment or anything like that. The only scams come from the gogo bar staff – sometimes they’re slow to bring back change, add a drink to the bill, etc.

Kojax bar entrance up a staircase, above XOXO bar

It’s easy to hook up with Filipinas for free on online dating sites like Filipino Cupid and Pinalove or apps like Tinder etc., I use those too, but I find the hottest girls in the Philippines are often working girls, or not single.

Apart from Kojax and XOXO, other P Burgos gogo bars worth checking out Plan B, and Tickles – there you can get a blowjob in the bar in a back room. Ringside bar for boxing shows.

Best Nuru Massage in Manila & Angeles City

$

Manila nuru massage girls & rates

I previously reviewed a Nuru massage outcall service in Cebu and had a great experience. Nurumassage.ph is the Manila & Angeles City version.

For 3000 pesos ($60) in Manila or 2000 in Angeles one of their sexy Filipinas gives you a naked body to body massage covered in oil, after washing you down in the shower. Total 90 minutes.

If you’re unfamiliar with Japanese Nuru massage, videos online will give you a good idea. Try searching Ariel Rose Nuru massage (she’s a Fil-Am adult star 🙂 ). Or Rosemary Radeva (Indo that looks Pinay).

For an extra $40 you can make it a threesome and have two masseuses service you.

Tip is not yet included if you want extras (optional) after the Nuru massage (handjob, blowjob, full sex). For Manila I’d expect to tip approx. 500 / 1000 / 2000 but it’s up to you and the girl to negotiate).

So overall it’s cheaper than taking a gogo girl on P Burgos (2900 barfine plus 3000 tip), and no need to leave your condo / hotel to sit in a bar and buy lady drinks.

Basically you are getting a Nuru massage instead of paying a barfine to a bar. A great deal for Manila. Most of the Makati street massage girls will not be properly trained in Nuru massage.

Angeles City nuru massage girls & rates

For Angeles City I’d expect to tip 30% less, and have it be about the same price as taking a bargirl on walking street (e.g. Atlantis bar are charging 3500 nowadays).

How it works is you pick a masseuse from their website gallery of pics and make a booking with their live chat support, or phone / Whatsapp / Viber.

She makes her way to your door, covering her own cab fare, then you pay for the Nuru massage on her arrival. Any extra services you pay for after.

Nurumassage.ph provide a protective waterproof mattress cover so Nuru oil doesn’t get all over your bed.

They also have male Nuru massage if you’re gay, and they have Russian girls in the VIP premier section of the website if you’re not into Asian girls.

I also reviewed a Bangkok nuru massage, Mitu Spa, there the girl did rimming, toe sucking, and 69 as part of the massage. Filipinas are usually a bit less kinky than Thai girls but should do those for the right tip.

I’m excited to see more sex massage options in the Philippines because compared to Thailand there aren’t many, it can be hard to get even a happy ending in Philippines massage parlors.

There’s Flight 168 spa at Airforce One KTV which I reviewed but you don’t get much of a massage there and it’s far out on the edge of Metro Manila past NAIA airport.

I haven’t tried Nurumassage.ph yet but will on my next trip to the Philippines. I like the look of ‘Candy’ & ‘Bubbles’ in Manila and ‘Ruby’ in AC.

The 7 Types of Filipina Girls You’ll Meet

$
0
0

Another guest post from US expat RealGuy, since his last post he got married to his Filipina girlfriend, and released an ebook. This is a free chapter from it.

1 – GROs / Freelancers

There are many types of working girls – freelancers (street girls, disco girls, etc.), escort girls, massage girls, and GROs – guest relations officers, any girl employed in a club or bar to keep male customers company (bargirl, gogo girl, karaoke girl, etc.)

While it’s possible that many prostitutes are doing it out of necessity, many of them want the fast-paced lifestyle without putting in a lot of work. Many of them have the point of view that money is everything, and this will affect how they view relationships.

These women view relationships as a business, and do not see their boyfriends as someone they love, but rather someone they can extract money from. Their time will cost you. As such, many of these women will never really love you, and many of them have considerable emotional baggage after years of their lifestyle.

I have never heard a good story about guys who tried to wife up women from the bar. On the contrary, many of the worst stories regarding relationship in Southeast Asia revolve around guys trying to reform former bargirls.

  • Recommendation: Avoid for dating. Only for fun

2- Semi Pros / Social Climbers

While not outright prostitutes, many of these women also view relationships as a business, or a means to an end. Semi hookers sometimes ask for money after sex depending on whether they like the guy or not, or if they want extra money or gifts. Not dissimilar to a golddigger in the West.

For short term flings, they could ask an overinflated amount for taxi money, while for longer term flings, they can ask a whole lot more.

Many of them will make up stories to get money out of a guy. These stories can range from anything to their dog being sick, having to pay for a funeral, and the tried and true relative in the hospital.

Many guys end up getting involved with these women, only to find out later that a lot of what they’ve been told is just outright lies to extract money from them. A lot of the older guys who are out of shape will chase younger girls from poor families, only to end up in a situation like this, then later complain about them.

These girls aren’t always bad people and are often doing whatever they can to help support their extended families. They see dating as a job, especially when it involves men they’re not attracted to. But when there’s a clear mismatch in attraction, the relationship might be transactional in nature.

Aside from semi pros, there is also the social climber. These are the women who will use other people, especially men, to move up in social status. Often these women have no loyalty to the men they’re using, and will dump them when they find someone who can offer them more.

They also tend to have very unhealthy views about their personality identity, where they come from, and are desperately trying to prove they’re different from where they came from.

Imo, any relationship revolving around a transaction is ultimately unhealthy and when times become rough, it’ll be very difficult to maintain them. There are plenty of good girls out there who would make great partners, and there’s no need to resort to options that in the long run will usually end up in ruin.

  • Recommendation: Avoid for relationships

3 – Online Jugglers

Like the social climber, the online juggler is a girl who’s always looking for someone better. They’re the girls who, even after talking to someone for a long time, and even after getting in to relationships, never seem to want to delete their Filipino Cupid and Pinalove profiles or cut it off with the other guys in their life.

Many of them will make excuses about why they need to do this, but believe them at your peril. In Filipino culture, it’s expected that once someone is in a relationship, they should stop entertaining other suitors. Many women will break off communication with exes and other guys even before it’s established that they’re in a relationship to pressure the guy into exclusivity.

From a girl’s perspective, it must be difficult. Their fertility has a clock, and their time to lock down a partner is shorter than men’s. With every guy they’re gambling their time without knowing whether the guy will settle down and commit to them, and every failed attempt to bond with someone is more wasted time. I can see why many women would like to keep other guys in the background as “backup guys”.

Despite this, I wouldn’t take any Filipina seriously who isn’t willing to risk focusing exclusively on you. It shows insecurity, disloyalty, and an inability to devote themselves to a partner. Going down that path with a woman who does this will only lead to greater paranoia, jealousy, and drama.

  • Recommendation: Avoid

4 – Spinsters

There are a lot of women out there who seem to get into short lived but ultimately doomed relationships all the time. When asked what happened, they tend to be cryptic or exclusively blame the man for all the problems. There are a lot of these women online, but you’ll also meet them in person. On dating sites, you’ll see many women who have been on the site for years, and apparently have been unable to find a suitable partner in all that time.

This usually says one of two things. Either she has bad judgment in the partners she selected, or she’s damaged goods and her boyfriends eventually found out what they were dealing with, or both. Truth is, there are many beautiful and captivating women out there who put on a lovely façade at first, but as time goes on, they reveal more and more cracks.

Some of the most beautiful and intelligent women I’ve met seemed like the perfect woman at first blush, only to later reveal major psychological issues and baggage from the past.

Many of these women are very impulsive and erratic, or carry a psychological disorder that makes it difficult for them to keep a boyfriend tolerant and interested for long. If you end up in a relationship with a woman like this, listen to your gut. Because many of these women can be beautiful, smart, and emotionally addictive, it’s tempting to rationalize their behavior, but in the end it falls apart.

Now, just because a woman has had a hard time finding a boyfriend doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider her for a relationship. We all make mistakes, and sometimes women must experience a few relationships before they know what kind of guys to avoid, and which to look for. Some women are very picky, and some have faced break ups because they weren’t willing to put out before marriage.

Many women will adjust what they’re looking for over time and how picky they are, and some of them would make great girlfriends. Either way, when getting in to a relationship with someone who has a checkered history of success in relationships, be careful, and keep your eyes open. Time is often the best judge of character and consistency. Listen to your gut and try to avoid rationalizing concerning behavior.

  • Recommendation: Date with extreme caution

5 – Hardworking Girls

In almost every Filipino family, especially the poor ones, there’s usually at least one person who is busting their ass to help everyone out. I call these girls hardworking girls because they’re usually doing whatever they can to secure a good career and support their families. It’s not uncommon for Filipino men to be lazy when it comes to supporting the family, and often women end up taking up the slack. Some women grow up being the main breadwinner in a family.

Usually these women are extremely selfless, responsible, and caring. They can make devoted, supportive partners in a relationship. Often their selflessness is exploited by their families, and it’s rare for them to hear words of appreciation. If you can help boost their self-esteem and bring them out of their family servitude, they can make great girlfriends who are forever grateful.

In poor families, it may difficult to break these women away from family exploitation. In the Philippines, once someone has a family of their own, their obligations to the older generation diminish. Families who are used to free money flowing in may resent you taking away their meal ticket. Even though there may be some family issues involved with dating these women, I think they can make great partners.

  • Recommendation: Date

6 – Upper Class Girls

On the other end of the financial spectrum is upper-class girls. One of the most common gripes from foreigners who date Filipinas is the expectation from their family that the foreigner give money to the family, while the family just wastes the money on pointless things. Dating upper class or “hiso” (high society) girls helps ensure you’ll typically be dealing with little or no family issues when it comes to money.

Often the families are doing quite well on their own, and if you’re someone who comes off as a well-educated professional type, it may be possible to gain acceptance in an upper class family. This will allow you to enjoy a comfortable life in the Philippines, and remove some of the pressure for finding work if you want to stay for an extended time.

Women from these families are typically more educated, intelligent, and responsible than the average Filipina. Some of the main issues guys lament about dating Filipinas aren’t an issue with them. But they may not be perfect. Many of them have grown up in a house with at least one live-in maid. Because of that, many of them have never learned or bothered to do many routine household tasks for themselves.

If you end up with a woman from this background, don’t be surprised if she turns her nose up at cooking or cleaning, or if she’s helpless doing routine tasks you grew up knowing how to do. If you’re the type who prefers to be the breadwinner, figuring out who will cook and who to do what around the house may be a point of contention. Though, there are some exceptions to the rule and you might find one who matches well with your relationship expectations.

My experience with ‘upper class’ (which can be really broad in the Philippines) women makes me think they’re not necessarily such a prize. Many of them can be entitled, indulgent, and have bad values.

  • Recommendation: Date cautiously

7 – Middle Class Girls

Between girls from poor and upper-class families are the middle class girls. They typically come from families with two hardworking, responsible parents, or where one has a good job overseas. Usually the families tend to be more conservative, so the women from these families have good values.

For many guys, Filipinas from this background may be the best option. Pinays in these families are usually hardworking, responsible, and feminine. While the family may ask for money in an emergency, or to help support someone’s education or business, often they don’t waste it like a lower-class family might. Either way, the family is typically supportive rather than a hindrance.

Guys who come from middle class western backgrounds will probably appreciate a woman who is both responsible and caring. Often these women gravitate towards jobs like teaching, nursing, or government office jobs. Because of their work ethic, it may be harder for them to find time for dating, but if you can bring them out on dates, it might lead to a rewarding relationship.

Message Escorts as a Premium Member

Premium members can now live chat with girls before committing to a booking, to see if they’ll agree to a lower rate, special requests, etc.

That’s now been added for premium members. Be warned that in most cases chat messages will go to the escort agency too, but the reply will come from the individual escort girl.

Other Premium Features

  • Book for 1 hour, 1 shot, which is cheaper. Standard members have to book 2+ hours. That ‘short time’ saving pays for the cost of premium membership by itself
  • Search all offline escorts not just currently online ones, to find hotter escorts that standard members won’t see. Set notifications for when they come online
  • Book up to 24 hours in advance, not the standard 4 hours – helps to make sure the escort you want won’t be booked when you’re in town
  • Get access to reviews of escort girls that previous clients submitted. Find out what her personality was like in the bedroom, if she still looks like her photos, etc.

One hour, one pop with Karla is 4500 pesos

Smooci Lower Prices for Escorts | Angeles & Cebu Added

Good news from Smooci.com as they plan to launch their escort service in Angeles City and Cebu this week. Previously Manila was the only Philippines city where they offered online bookings.

Angeles City and Cebu are coming soon on the website

They also plan to add Phnom Penh, Cambodia soon so in total they will be active in 10 cities around Asia.

I’ll post some pics of the new Filipina escort girls when they’re up.

There are many freelancers in Angeles City & Cebu so I’d expect some will start using Smooci which saves you a trip to Fields Avenue or Mango to find them, simply log onto Smooci from the comfort of your hotel and the girls come to you, paying their own taxi fare.

I notice some new ‘independent’ girls on the Manila Smooci results, those are freelancers:

Manila freelancers

Angeles and Cebu prices should be lower than Manila too.

So far the lowest prices I’ve seen on Smooci were for Bangkok girls, probably because there’s such a high supply of working girls there and the girls have to compete with each other. Hopefully adding more Filipinas to the site has the same effect.

I did a review of using Smooci in Bangkok here.

New Lower Prices for Premium Members

You can now also get a few hundred pesos discount on the price of sex by being a premium member.

It costs $9.99 to be a premium Smooci member for 3 days, and then discounts for the girls vary from $3 – $15 depending on the girl.

Smooci double the membership length for anyone who emails in mentioning this blog so do that and it’d be a 6 day membership.

So if you book say one girl a night over those 6 days you could end up saving $20 – $90. Not too bad.

Angeles City hotel rooms often come complete with stripper poles, ceiling and wall mirrors, and jacuzzi tubs, hanging out there can be more fun than HISO disco or walking street full of guys selling stuff.

Using Smooci also of courses saves you wasting money on trikes, lady drinks and barfines.

Buying Smart Drugs in Asia & How I Improve Focus
